OPERATIONS MANAGER - ENVIRONMENT

ANNESLEY OR WARRINGTON

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Midlands Business.

Our Midlands business unit covers Framework Agreements for Severn Trent Water and Welsh Water so ideally, you will based in or around the Annesley or Warrington area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

As Operations Manager you will be accountable for the successful delivery of a large programme of work as part of our Framework Agreement with Severn Trent Water and Welsh Water.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams in delivering projects ranging from small and simple complexity to large and technically challenging engineering projects, within both the Networks and Treatment Waste and Water arenas.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all activities and employees to ensure that projects within your portfolio are delivered safely on time, in budget and meet all their requirements. This will include responsibility for the financial control and reporting of the portfolio ensuring the programmes is delivered in accordance to the company standards and procedures and meets commercial expectations of the business unit. You will be accountable for reporting on the safety, commercial, programme and quality elements of their portfolio.

One of the primary responsibilities will be to align to the Client's direction and needs, interpret contract commitments and to manage Client / Contractor expectations within the context of Galliford Try's and their commitment to continuing their longstanding relationship with Severn Trent Water and Welsh Water. By identifying, adopting, and promoting innovative approaches which will allow and establish efficiencies within the programme through proactively pursuing opportunities that exist in procurement, design, and construction. Working with the Client to ensure that the key deliverables within each stage of the projects are being administered to the highest quality the Operations Manager will ensure that the proper interpretation of the design briefs are established, and the delivered solutions meet and exceed the expectations of the Client. Working with the Client to enable the most efficient and cost-effective approach in delivering outstanding projects while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, quality assisted by the Commercial Manager will demonstrate and develop financial controls that detail profit and loss and detailed cost to complete reports for each project within the programme. The above aligns fully with the regions primary control to effectively manage time, cost, and quality objectives.

About You:

  • Proven leader with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings and set objectives.
  • Report at portfolio level on time cost quality
  • Track record of effective staff development and employee relations
  • Programme Management experience
  • Capable of strategic planning and managing change
  • Excellent track record of HS&E performance
  • Full project / programme life cycle experience
  • Experience of NEC suite of Contracts
  • Track record of accountability for the performance of a business
  • Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
  • Resolves and / or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to make autonomous decisions and be able to support your outcomes
  • Preferably degree level qualified but not essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of Water / Waste Treatment and Infrastructure construction sectors preferred (however may have transferable skills from petrochemical, oil, gas, etc).
  • Strong project / programme management background
  • Excellent oral and written and communication skills
  • IT literate in Microsoft Office applications
