We are seeking an experienced and skilled leader to join our service support centre, as an Operations Manager to inspire and motivate teams and to help deliver it's business plans objectives to enable to company vision and achieve it's purpose. Working from our Head Office in Exeter, you will receive an annual salary of between £50,000 - £55,000 plus a company car and excellent benefits.

About the role:

You will play a pivotal role managing multi-disciplinary, and incredibly busy teams in the provision of specialist and expert central support for the regional waste water business. You will be accountable for delivering targeted customer service standards and ensure relationships with key stakeholders are maintained and enhanced. You will continually aiming to make improvements related to alarms and decision-making processes including reporting, data insight and business processes that reduce risk and improve outcomes.

What you'll be doing:

    • Leading and developing teams, fostering a great working environment where all are valued and supported
    • Working closely with operational teams, providing regional support to ensure compliance and pollution targets are achieved.
    • Reviewing pollution incidents and near misses, identifying and progressing opportunities for process and system improvements and optimisation.
    • Providing leadership support in local Stakeholder liaison; including customer focus groups, local parish councils and the Environment Agency.
    • Ensuring compliance with all Company procedures; following up on audit findings and learning shaped through continuous improvement of business processes.
    • Supporting in the development and implementation a Waste Water Business Plan that meets all Operational Business Objectives and Targets in conjunction with the Company's vision and values.
    • Programme managing alarm optimisation for Waste water services, liaising with the Proactive Alarm Coordinators as appropriate.
    • Achieving overall compliance with Safety, Environmental and Customer Service performance progressive improvements.
    • Delivering a Training and Development Plan for Waste Water staff in line with the Company's Management Development Framework and/or other agreed frameworks i.e. Licence to Control.
    • Working with others in the Management Team to improve overall company response and performance.
    • Managing the team's rotas to ensure adequate cover and resilience in support of operational activities 24/7/365.
    • Designing and delivering monthly reports for the Head of Service Support Centre Operations.
    • Work with CREWW (Exeter University- Centre for Resilience in Environment, Waste and Water) and the SWW Innovation Team to support delivery of WATERFIT and the WWS Business Plan.

What we are looking for:

    • Degree in relevant discipline or demonstrable education in comparable technical discipline, ideally experience working in an incident response environment.
    • Recognised Management Training and Development qualification.
    • Experience of working in an operational leadership role
    • Proven ability to motivate and direct a diverse team providing essential operational delivery to the business.
    • Experience of successfully managing transition/periods of change
    • Ability to think strategically and ensure the building blocks are in place for improvement to flourish.
    • Able to travel around the work area using company vehicle.
    • Full UK Drivers License.
