Your role: The Head of Operations position, located in Irvine, UK, is responsible for the Cell Culture Media manufacturing and warehouse teams. This individual holds responsibility for leadership of the operations team and the development and implementation of processes to ensure that product is manufactured and stored in accordance with all safety, quality, cGMP and applicable regulatory requirements. In addition, this individual assures production schedules are met to fulfil forecasted market demand and assures that manufacturing costs are minimized through effective utilization of resources, equipment, facilities, and materials.

You are responsible for manufacturing and warehouse areas, including the supervision of approximately 150 staff operating 24/7.

Responsibilities will in include, but not be exclusive to:

  • You will promote a culture of safety, quality and compliance, and achieve continuous improvement through OpEx initiatives.
  • You will partner with Safety and Quality groups to trend and improve KPIs.
  • Achieve and maintain cGMP standards to meet company policy, customer expectations and all appropriate regulatory requirements, and identify.
  • Mitigate risks in manufacturing that could adversely impact production outcomes and timely delivery of product to customers.
  • Participate in the design, justification and execution of capital projects for manufacturing & warehouse facilities and equipment
  • Develop yearly financial expense plan and manage areas of responsibility within approved budget to ensure business profitability
  • Participate in customer and regulatory audits and visits as needed
  • Provide a visible presence and focus for the manufacturing and warehouse functions by regularly visiting all work areas.

Who you are:

  • Managerial experience gained in a manufacturing environment within a regulated industry.
  • Proven track record of process improvement and effective financial management.
  • The ability to troubleshoot and solve problems and to plan and implement change proactively.
  • Able to provide strong leadership encompassed within an enthusiastic and motivational style.
  • Relevant Scientific or Engineering degree, or equivalent, desirable but not essential.
  • Certificate in Operations Management, or equivalent, is desirable but not essential.
