About The Role
MWH Treatment are seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead our Southern Division frameworks and drive operational excellence across major programmes and projects. Reporting to the Divisional Director, the Operations Director will work on programmes/ major projects across the Division.
The Operations Director will be accountable for the performance of allocated major projects across the Division (including P&L) also supporting where agreed Framework Directors to improve project delivery performance and consistent operational service of all projects within the assigned Division. This role will form part of the Divisional Senior Leadership Team. Where agreed the Operations Director will participate in Project Boards and external Framework Boards supporting turnover and profitability objectives.
The Operations Director will also lead an allocated part of the Project Delivery Office, as agreed with the Divisional Directors. They will be accountable for the successful UK wide implementation of the allocated function across all Divisions and will work with other Operations Directors to ensure consistency and measurable performance.
Key responsibilities:
- Accountable to Divisional Director
- To attend and support Divisional Management Boards
- Provide the Divisional Leadership with operational advice and expertise on critical issues.
- To support and ensure all Divisional Major Projects are monitored, reviewed and delivered to a best practise standard across the Division.
- To work with the Framework Directors and support where required with the operational aspects of Divisional Frameworks, providing operational experience and professional guidance to the delivery teams when needed.
- Oversee the successful delivery of allocated Major Projects to scope, target cost, quality, programme and completion encompassing design, engineering, construction, handover ensuring optimal delivery is achieved
- Support the Divisional Commercial Lead in ensuring all commercial aspects of all allocated Major Projects are proactively reviewed and managed.
- Divisional Accountability for consistent and efficient project delivery function, using agreed metrics.
- Review and challenge allocated Major Project budgets and forecasts to ensure a consistent, challenging but deliverable approach is adopted.
- Operational Precontract validation of key items, such as programme, resources, constructability on allocated Major Projects
- Be accountable for, and deliver, high levels of performance in key areas of health and safety, environment, sustainability and quality and champion continuous improvement and best value, ensuring compliance with the quality systems which constantly support our delivery philosophy on allocated Major Projects.
- To work with other Divisional Operational Directors to ensure best practise in delivery is developed and applied across the UK.
- To lead allocated PDO disciplines and work with other Operations Directors and Framework Directors to ensure successful application of agreed approach
- To work with the PDO function and develop a yearly business plan of objectives for the PDO Function and obtain sign off with Divisional Directors.

- Forecast long-term resource needs based on strategic business planning.
- Work with Embedded Divisional functional leads to support overall Divisional performance.
- Divisional Deep Dive Lead, to achieve agreed Business criteria. Maintain a positive and solution-oriented approach, providing open and transparent feedback.
- To help support and manage delivery resource across cross all Frameworks, including the appointment of key appointments.
- In all internal and external contact, present a professional and positive image of the business as well as maintaining mutually constructive, positive and beneficial relationships.
- Work with the Divisional team to ensure adherence, promotion, training, to deliver best practises across the Division.
- Support Talent development and succession Planning is delivered across all Frameworks
- Provide visible operational leadership ln the management of SHEQ across the Division
- Allocated client and project board representation as agreed.

Person Specification Essential:
• Experience in a similar role with senior management responsibilities
• Strategic, operational, technical and management skills
• Able to demonstrate strong leadership capability
• Demonstrable client facing experience
• Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering related discipline.
• Must be delivery driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives
• Experience in the Water/Waste Water Treatment Industry
