We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Director to lead and oversee the operational aspects of our company. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations, aligning with the organization's long-term vision, and driving efficiency, scalability, and innovation. The Operations Director will work closely with the executive leadership team to deliver on strategic objectives, optimize processes, and ensure operational excellence across all functions.
Requirements
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company's overall goals and vision.
- Collaborate with executive leadership (CEO, CMO, FD, etc.) to drive business growth and profitability.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements, innovation, and efficiency gains.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring all departments work cohesively and deliver high performance.
- Manage supply chain management, logistics, and procurement to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Align operational activities with long-term business goals and financial targets.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success.
- Regularly review performance metrics and report insights to the CEO and board.
- Use data-driven analysis to make informed decisions and refine operational strategies.
Growth and Scalability
- Create and implement robust operational frameworks to support rapid business growth, enabling the company to adapt to increasing demands seamlessly.
- Lead efforts to enter new markets, launch new product categories, and scale operational infrastructure to support global growth.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement to ensure continuous enhancement of business operations.
- Oversee the optimisation of the marketplace platform, ensuring scalability from technical, operational, and customer experience perspectives.
- Develop strategies to rapidly grow the product catalogue and onboard new marketplace partners while minimising stockholding risks through innovative inventory models like consignment and revenue sharing.
Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop department heads and operational staff to build a high-performing team.
- Set clear expectations and objectives while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure efficient communication across teams to achieve operational goals.
Budget and Financial Oversight
- Collaborate with the Finance Director to manage operational budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Ensure that spending aligns with the organisation's strategic priorities and financial objectives.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or efficiency.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure that all operational processes comply with legal, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimise impact.
- Create and maintain contingency plans to address disruptions and crises effectively.
Technology and Innovation
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.
- Oversee the integration of new systems, ensuring minimal disruption to daily activities.
- Foster a culture of innovation to continually improve processes and services.
Customer and Stakeholder Relations
- Ensure customer satisfaction by aligning operations with a customer-first approach.
- Build and manage a best-in-class customer support function to enhance the user experience.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including partners, vendors, and investors.
Project Management
- Oversee and prioritise company-wide projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to execute key initiatives seamlessly.
Crisis Management
- Act as the primary decision-maker during operational crises, ensuring swift and effective resolution.
- Communicate clearly with leadership and teams to keep stakeholders informed during disruptions.
Collaboration with Leadership
- Act as a key liaison between the CEO and other executives to ensure alignment across the leadership team.
- Provide regular updates to the CEO and board on operational performance and progress against strategic initiatives.
- Take ownership of cross-departmental projects, ensuring smooth execution and alignment with company objectives.
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience in an operational leadership role, ideally as an Operations Director or similar position.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving growth and operational excellence.
- Exceptional ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in supply chain management, logistics, and technology integration.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience managing budgets and optimising costs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and align teams.
- Familiarity with compliance and risk management best practices.
