Overview:
The Operations Director within MUFG Corporate Markets, A member of MUFG Pension & Market Services business, is responsible and accountable for all elements of operational performance.
The Operations Director will be based on a hybrid basis at our stunning city centre office in Leeds, so you must be within a commutable distance to enable you to be in the office at least three times a week. The role is part of a global team and will also include infrequent travel to other MUFG Pension & Market Services sites in the UK and internationally, so the role holder will need the flexibility to work outside standard hours at times.
Operationally, the following functions are covered: Registry and Oversight, SAYE, SIP and Discretionary Share Plans, Contact Centre, Dealing and Dividend payments, Complaints, Operational Risk (1 LOD) and CASS.
The Operations Director is an SMF3 role and holds prescribed responsibility for Compliance with the CASS rules.

What you need:
As with any role, we want to find the right person and we want to make sure you know it's the right role for you too. You will need the following:
• Significant demonstrable experience of managing business operations within financial services at a senior leadership level, including engagement at board level
• A proven, strategic thinker with the ability to develop well considered, robust business strategies
• Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing operational and business wide strategies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Knowledge and experience of dealing with a regulated financial environment, a sound understanding of the regulatory regime and previous experience as an SMF3
• Exceptional people leadership experience, with the ability to set a clear vision, collaborate and motivate others
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the capability to inspire confidence, motivate and influence others
• A personal commitment to be a visible role model of MUFG Pension & Market Services' behaviours and values, including the development and embedding of a high-performing organisation and culture
• The energy, enthusiasm and passion for change with the ability to motivate and generate excitement, inspire confidence and make things happen in a collaborative way at different levels throughout the organisation

• Demonstrable experience managing operations in a digital environment with an understanding of operational best practice and a key focus on client delivery
• A proven track record of implementing sustainable cost reductions and operational efficiencies
• The ability to problem solve, make decisions and analyse complex information to identify key issues and actions and drive resolution

Day to Day:
• Drive the continual design and digital enhancement of the Operations model so that it effectively supports the business and its successful growth, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality services are delivered to internal and external clients against agreed service standards
• Identify strategies to drive continuous improvement and automation in operational processes and practices
• Drive strategic and sustainable operational change across the organisation, including the realisation of associated targeted cost savings and efficiency benefits
• Ensure continuous improvement is an integral part of the culture, whilst supporting business growth
• Build and maintain an engaged, high-performing and commercial Operations team who are held accountable for delivering business plans via high performance leadership, employee engagement practices and role model behaviours
• Oversee and maintain operational performance to ensure it meets regulatory and client expectations and targets
• Deliver operational and financial results against associated plans and budgets whilst making high quality decisions that not only advance the business, but enable an increase in margins
• Ensure a robust governance and oversight model exists to manage and monitor third party vendor relationships, ensuring clear contract ownership and proactive relationship and cost management
• Proactively identify, manage and mitigate existing and emerging operational risks, ensuring operational business controls are effective and that policies and procedures are clearly defined and adhered to
• Fully adhere to legal and regulatory requirements and the good conduct of the businesses, maintaining ongoing compliance and upholding the reputation of MUFG Pension & Market Services, A member of MUFG, a global financial group
• Ensure any incidents or issues are resolved in a timely manner, service improvement initiatives are identified and executed and that there is clear, transparent cost management
• Actively grow, embed and sustain a high performing, inclusive and collaborative culture across both Operations and the wider MUFG Corporate Markets business, being a role model for MUFG Pension & Market Services values
• Having prescribed responsibility for Compliance with CASS rules
