Online Key Account Manager

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

The Online Sales team is a core part of the Penguin Random House Group Sales department. Working with all eight of our publishing houses across a diverse range of publishing, we maximise sales of our titles through all online retail channels, both at home and internationally. We are looking for an Online Key Account Manager to join us on a permanent basis.

As Online Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for growing physical and digital sales for the publishing houses that you represent, through online platforms including Amazon, Apple and Spotify. You will drive revenue through strong merchandising placement, strategic use of promotions and enhanced discoverability on retailer platforms for books across all formats: print, ebook and audio.

This exciting role will work with the publishing teams from Penguin Press and Ebury, across a diverse publishing list including cookery, smart thinking, narrative non-fiction, personal development books, as well as the prestigious Penguin Classics list. You will work closely with the publishing teams across editorial, publicity and marketing to deliver the very best results for our books and authors.

This role will suit someone who is commercially minded, with a keen interest in the online retail landscape and who is passionate about connecting books and consumers online. Experience in driving sales growth through online platforms is advantageous but not essential.

In this role, you will:

  • Work effectively with online retailers to provide compelling sales information on key titles, and to plan digital and print online retail price promotions.
  • Proactively build successful relationships with internal stakeholders from different teams throughout the business.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Online Sales team to continually learn and adapt new strategies to maximise sales online.
  • Collaborate closely with publishing teams, acting as a champion for best practice in the online world to maximise discovery and sales of all titles.
  • Work with marketing teams to drive visibility and effectiveness of online retail price promotions.
  • Attend publishing team meetings, share regular sales reporting and commercial insights to inform publishing strategy.
  • Liaise with the Sales Operations team to help ensure that your titles have optimal positioning on site, removing any friction to purchase.

What you'll need to succeed in this role:

  • A proactive, inquisitive and analytical mind, with experience in using data analysis tools to track performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong commercial awareness and to be motivated by sales success.
  • Experience operating as a positive, engaged and influential team player.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proven ability to juggle a varied workload.
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable confidence in sharing information and insights with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in driving sales growth through online platforms would be an advantage.
