The Role
To manage departmental requirements effectively and efficiently through the optimum use of people, materials, and equipment, ensuring output meets company, site, and legislative standards of quality, cost, and timescale. The Hygiene Manager will lead the hygiene team, oversee chemical usage, and support compliance, audits, and customer requirements.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a technical/hygiene role within chilled food manufacturing.
- 5+ years' experience in food production, ideally FMCG.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC, retailer codes of practice, and Listeria management.
- Level 3 Food Hygiene and HACCP (desirable).
- Proven experience managing hygiene/audit compliance processes.
- Track record of delivering objectives, projects, and KPIs on time.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical and numeric ability with plant/equipment knowledge.
- IT literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Resilient, determined, and able to drive performance improvements.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop an effective hygiene team across all shifts.
- Maintain the site CICs using the Kersia Gateway system.
- Liaise with Technical and NPD teams to ensure hygiene systems support allergen control and development projects.
- Work with the Technical Administrator to deliver hygiene KPIs, reporting on trends and driving improvements.
- Align site hygiene standards with group expectations, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Manage hygiene chemical usage, supplier relationships, dosing systems, and safe handling/storage.
- Support non-conformance close-outs through root cause analysis and preventative action.
- Play a key role in third-party and customer audits.
- Promote staff engagement to strengthen food safety and HSE culture.
- Maintain comprehensive hygiene operation records.
- Conduct COSHH assessments, risk assessments, and implement safe systems of work.
