Job summary
Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Newborn Hearing Screening Team have an exciting opportunity for a new local manager to join the team as the Operational Lead, for 18.75 hours/week.
Newborn Hearing Screening is a national programme offered to all babies and aims to identify hearing loss from birth and refer babies who require an audiological diagnostic test within a timely manner.
Early diagnosis and intervention of hearing loss are essential to give babies a better chance of developing language, speech and communication skills.
The Newborn Hearing Screening service which is based in Blackpool Victoria Hospital, provides hearing screening to all babies born in the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre area within the first 3 months of life. Screening is carried out on the maternity wards, delivery suite, special care baby units and within outpatient clinics.
Main duties of the job
The role will include People management, operational leadership and ongoing development of the newborn hearing screening team.
The post holder will have overall responsibility for:
- Maintaining national newborn hearing screening standards.
- Overseeing the use of new equipment and policies.
- Ensuring compliance with national protocols.
- Analysing and sharing performance data, ensuring that National KPI's are met.
- Competently screening newborn babies in line with national protocols in order to support good practice within the team.

- To act as the representative and primary point of contact for the Trust for the National NHSP, Health, Education and Social Professionals, parents and carers, and the NHSP screening team.
