Job overview

An exciting opportunity has now arisen and we are in the position to recruit a Senior Nurse to work within our Neuromodulation Service.

The successful candidate will be a competent practitioner with a proven record of leadership skills as a band 5 nurse and able to take responsibility for the overseeing of assessments of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for clients with mental health needs for the Neuromodulation Service. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • excellent risk assessment skills,
  • communicate effectively, both written and verbally;
  • demonstrate compassion, understanding, commitment, enthusiasm,
  • above all be highly motivated.

Main duties of the job

  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care with patients, integrating Clinical/Practice interventions into a care package devised with the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • Utilise clinical/practice supervision for personal development and models the use of supervision to enhance and develop practice for junior staff
  • Advise colleagues and staff (internally and externally) on patient issues utilising expertise and skill to promote holistic and therapeutic interventions in the management of risk.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills across boundaries and promote clinical/practice professionalism.
  • To assist the Matron in setting and maintaining high standards of care and evaluating quality outcomes.
  • Participate in a range of assessments.
  • To teach and supervise the team, including qualified, non-qualified and learners.
  • Maintain good standards of communication, both oral and written, in accordance with NMC guidelines.
  • Responsible for reporting to the Matron any circumstances that may affect the delivery of care and / or efficient running of the service.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures
  • Ensure adequate ordering of stock for the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate will deliver the highest quality care for patients with acute mental health issues; with a positive attitude with a commitment to maintain EPUT's excellent customer care.

We are looking for people who can bring commitment and fresh ideas, and determination to take forward our service in new and innovative ways; in return we offer training and development of staff, support through regular supervision and Appraisal to assist you in setting realistic objectives.

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • RMN or equivalent.
  • Evidence of personal and professional development in contemporary mental health

Desirable criteria

  • Advanced ECT course

Knowledge/Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working closely and developing relationships with senior medical, nursing, social and clinical staff
  • Experience of vulnerable adult and children protection - processes and management
  • Significant experience at Band 5.

Desirable criteria

  • Research and development skills and relevant qualification.
