RABI is the charity at the heart of farming, providing expert mental health and wellbeing support, as well as financial, emotional and practical help to farming people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The charity's grants empower farming people to become financially resilient, and their expert mental health support builds emotional resilience to help farming people feel better equipped to tackle the many uncertainties and challenges that our farming communities face today.

Key Purpose of Role

The National Fundraising Manager as part of the Organisation Leadership Team plays a key role in shaping and delivering RABI's fundraising strategy, ensuring we achieve ambitious income targets to support our mission. Over the next two years, the department is set for significant growth, and the National Fundraising Manager will oversee its daily operations, guiding the introduction of new processes and systems. While driving innovation and sustainable, integrated income generation, they will also foster strategic relationships with stakeholders. Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and the wider RABI team, they will help build and lead a dynamic team, expanding our donor base and diversifying funding streams.

Collaborates with:

  • Internal: Heads of Departments, Finance and Volunteer Staff
  • External: Major Donors, Corporate Partners, Philanthropic Organisations, Community Groups, Volunteers, Agencies and Consultants

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Help develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive national fundraising strategy in collaboration with the Head of Fundraising, focusing on sustainable growth and diversification of income.
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Fundraising team, ensuring that they are aligned with RABI strategic goals, departmental strategy, financial targets and direct reports deliver on their objectives.
  • Help set, monitor and analyse fundraising performance, providing regular reports and insights to the Head of Fundraising, Senior Leadership Team and on occasion to Trustees.

Team Management:

  • Manage, mentor and develop the fundraising managers [to be recruited]
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and high performance across the department
  • Work with the Head of Fundraising to set clear objectives and KPIs for direct reports and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Assist in recruiting and building a team of expert Fundraising specialists.
  • Provide and seek training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of the fundraising team.

Philanthropy and Partnerships

  • Oversee Philanthropy and Partnerships in identifying, cultivating implementing a strategy that will:
  • Build relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic foundations.
  • Develop tailored proposals and pitches to secure high-value gifts and sponsorships.
  • Work closely with the team to create and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective donors.

Donor Relations

  • Support Oversee Donor Relations in creating and implementing an integrated income generation strategy that will:
  • Introduce a donor acquisition and stewardship programme to enhance donor retention and lifetime value.
  • Ensure we embrace effective communication with donors, including regular updates, impact reports, and acknowledgements.
  • Assist in implementing, modifying and fully exploiting the benefits of our new CRM system to track donor interactions and improve relationship management.

Community Fundraising

  • Oversee Community Fundraising by developing and implementing a community-based fundraising strategy that will:
  • Help expand the charity's community fundraising to at least three times the current income.
  • Collaborate closely with Volunteering to increase reach and visibility through community engagement and partnership-building.
  • Develop resources and toolkits to support community fundraisers and volunteers (e.g., Event Ticketing).
  • Provide data capture methods that will provide the opportunity to develop committed givers.

Compliance and Best Practice

  • Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice standards by providing guidance and briefings to staff and volunteers (including Trustees) regularly.
  • Keep up to date with trends and developments in the fundraising sector, adapting strategies and practices as necessary.

Other Key responsibilities:

  • Be an ambassador for Fundraising within RABI and with external organisations.
  • Contribute to the strategic and operational growth of the charity, participating and collaborating with colleagues across the charity.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity and Health & Safety, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities commensurate with the post that management representatives may require.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a senior fundraising role, with a track record of achieving significant income growth.
  • Experience recruiting, building and managing diverse fundraising teams and delivering against strategic objectives.
  • Good understanding of the UK fundraising landscape, including how digital fundraising techniques can be fully integrated as part of the fundraising mix.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate partners, and community groups.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of relevant fundraising regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and data-driven fundraising approaches.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a similar role within the charity sector, particularly within a farming or rural-focused organisation.
  • Knowledge of the specific challenges and opportunities within the farming and rural communities.

A full driving license is required, as there will various meetings that will take place around the UK with the occasional overnight stay.
