National Account Manager

What your role is

This role will be responsible for leading the interface between the Company and customers, and the achievement of Company sales, share and profit goals, including maintaining and developing the growth of our brands. This role will require drive, ambition and enthusiasm, combined with a high level of technical skills such as selling, negotiation, forecasting and commercial awareness; as well as the ability to drive high levels of Customer intimacy. As a key aspect of this role will be the daily interaction with other functions within the business, applicants will need to demonstrate success in working as part of a cross functional team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and negotiate annual JBPs and deliver against agreed targets such as sales growth and margin improvement.
  • Own the monthly financial and volume S&OP cycle, providing the business with accurate projections for your customer.
  • Manage promotional funding and trade spend to ensure Promotional ROI, achieve brand objectives and secure visibility with the retailer.
  • Implement an agreed promotional plan within defined investment budgets.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of your customer, their shoppers and strategies. Effectively translate customer strategies internally to align the business to mutual growth opportunities. Advocate the needs of your customer and their shoppers internally to secure growth-driving initiatives.
  • Drive thought leadership on our Categories within the Customer.
  • Develop and recommend account strategies and tactics to maximize the sales and gross profit for both parties with the agility to adjust plans throughout the year.
  • Implement plans for excellent execution, liaising with key contacts within the Customer and internally.
  • Work as part of the cross functional team to develop Customer intimacy. Work cross-functionally with functions such as Marketing and Supply Chain to deliver initiatives for your customer.

What you will bring to the team

  • Strong performance history with successful experience at Account Manager level within branded FMCG. Experience with wholesalers desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of category management process
  • Ability to build great customer relationships; listens, understands & responds to customers' needs.
  • Confidence and ability to develop and present compelling sales presentations.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Experience of delivering results through working in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a growth mindset to explore new ideas and opportunities.
