We are looking for a dynamic individual that can support the Head of Multilateral Postal Policy in the development of postal payments strategy and business deployment, including day-to-day situation analysis, data management and statistical requirements to implement postal remuneration strategy effectively. This is a pivotal role to support business in delivery revenue growth ambition and optimising cost across International mail and parcel transactions

This is a Hybrid working role with a requirement to attend our Heathrow Worldwide Distribution Centre or Farringdon office, with flexibility required in line with business needs. Some international travel to Switzerland will also be required at least once or twice a month.

About the role

  1. Support the 'Head of Multilateral Postal Policy' in the deployment of the Terminal Dues process and strategic approach to maximise commercial benefit to RMG and support to the wider International teams on bi-lateral negotiations
  2. Assist in the global remuneration policy development and payments strategy for all postal streams across Royal Mail Group (RM, PFW & GLS). Responsible for on-time submission for all postal delivery rates in accordance to the multilateral timetable
  3. Subject Matter Expert to all multilateral remuneration systems and Terminal Dues affiliated process, including ETOE, transit, ITMATT, sampling policy (linking up with operations, systems and accounting processes) to maximise postal revenue and minimise cost
  4. Identify and react to business problems that has indirect impact on revenue e.g. quality of service, IPS reconciliation, tracking performance, ITMATT data compliance, Force Majeure etc
  5. Prepare ad hoc analysis and impact assess new proposals ahead of multilateral Terminal Dues and Parcel Post negotiations
  6. Create dashboard and KPI reporting to demonstrate business trend and revenue performance across different level of audience
  7. Database management for all postal delivery rates and supplementary payments
  8. Provide technical support and policy advice to assist Regional Directors in country-specific bilateral contract negotiations
  9. Provide regular trainings or organise workshop where necessary to walk through basic remuneration principle with internal stakeholders and/or explain key objectives for specific process to RM team (Commercial, Finance/Settlement, Operation)
  10. Act as direct proxy to 'Head of Multilateral Postal Policy' and represent and input into the various multilateral forums (UPU, PostEurop) and sub-groups (Remuneration, accounting, quality etc)

About You

To truly excel in this role, you will also need to possess and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:

  • Expert user of MS excel and/or other database query software
  • Highly numerate, organized, strong system background, willingness to travel, foreign languages an advantage
  • Negotiation and influencing skills coupled with commercial acumen
  • Culturally aware with experience of working with key partners
  • Team player and leader, able to thrive and influence in a commercial culture across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to resolve disputes externally and internally to the business

Experience

  • Revenue manager with commercial/accounting experience
  • Understanding and commercial acumen related to international mails or freight & logistics market
  • Understanding and knowledge of delivery rates, UPU terminal dues and parcel remuneration principles

Qualifications

  • Graduate with numerate degree such as mathematics, statistics, or computer science
