Modern Workplace Engineer (Wimbledon or Nottingham, Hybrid)

The Modern Workplace Engineer works within the Digital Workspace team, which is accountable for the full application lifecycle, from deployment and configuration through to updates, patching, and retirement, ensuring that applications remain secure, compliant, performant, and aligned with business needs.

A bit about the job:

The Modern Workplace Engineer is responsible for implementing and supporting modern end-user computing solutions that enable a secure, efficient, and collaborative digital workplace. This role ensures employees have seamless access to applications, devices, and services while maintaining compliance and optimizing performance across the enterprise.

The role will also support the rollout of Microsoft Intune across the UK estate, assisting with the migration from SCCM to a modern, cloud-first endpoint management platform.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Endpoint Management: Administer Microsoft Intune for device compliance, application deployment, and security policies.
  • Manage MDM/MAM strategies for Windows and mobile devices.
  • Patch Management and OS Updates: Implement and manage patching and operating system updates via Intune.
  • Device Provisioning: Deploy and maintain Windows Autopilot for zero-touch provisioning.
  • Application Lifecycle Management: Package and deploy applications using Intune and ADT.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Hybrid Management: Support SCCM, including co-management scenarios.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Create and manage Azure VMs, build templates, and perform maintenance.
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure: Support Citrix environments and manage Ivanti tools.
  • Collaboration Tools: Assist with administration of Microsoft Teams, Exchange, OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • Security Tools: Support endpoint and network security initiatives using Rapid7, Zscaler, Airlock, and CrowdStrike.

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • High level of skill with Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) and Windows Autopilot
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting for automation of complex tasks
  • Hands-on experience in application packaging and deployment
  • Expertise in managing SCCM within hybrid environments
  • Familiarity with Azure Virtual Machine lifecycle management and template creation
  • Working knowledge of Citrix VDA and Ivanti tools
  • Foundational understanding of JAMF for macOS management (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration (Teams, Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint)
  • Awareness of advanced security tools such as Rapid7, Zscaler, Airlock, and CrowdStrike
  • Understanding of the ITIL Framework
