Model Risk Officer, VP/ Director - Risks - London, United Kingdom

COORDINATION

1. Orchestrates the coordination between the central Model Risk Management functions (i.e. MRM and ALM, in LOD2) and the local RISQ Management teams (RISQ/GBR), either as users of Group models or as reviewer of local ALM models

a. Single Point of Contact for MRM teams, and in particular, for MRM model reviewers.

b. Additional point of contact for central ALM model reviewers

2. Supports RISQ/GBR in their dialogue with BUs and SUs on model risk related topics.

3. Escalates to MRM and ALM central teams the questions or concerns raised by local model users (BUs, SUs including RISQ/GBR) or by local management (including SGIL Board Members)

4. Cooperates with local regulatory surveillance teams to identify new model risk themes, trends or regulations ; keeps MRM and ALM central teams informed of new regulatory developments in the UK ; participates in the preparation of gap analysis when required ; coordinates the SS 123 gap analysis, in particular.

5. Orchestrate the communication to local model users (BUs and SUs including RISQ/GBR) or local ALM model reviewers around the good practices or guidance coming from MRM and ALM central teams ; train local BUs and SUs (including RISQ/GBR) on new tools, processes, frameworks and rules being developed / enacted by MRM and ALM central teams.

6. Supports the local ALM team in their review of ALM model, in compliance with Group's best practices.

GOVERNANCE AND ROADMAP

7. Leveraging on, and in compliance with, the global MRM governance framework, establishes a robust and clear MRM governance in the UK, in particular for the needs of the local implementation of the group model inventory processes (SGIL and SGLB) ; and for the needs of SGIL's ICAAP and ILAAP process

8. Clarifies the roles and responsibilities of local stakeholders (including RISQ/GBR and DFIN) vs central MRM and ALM teams ; formalizes local processes and procedures, when required ; contributes to the local Risk Management Framework and Risk Appetite Framework.

9. Establishes a roadmap with clear priorities, deadlines and roles and responsibilities ; sets a yearly calendar that works for all parties

MODEL RISK OVERSIGHT

10. Oversees the UK based execution of the model Inventory process, led by RISQ/GBR's COO team ; Contributes to the identification of the critical models for SGLB and SGIL, including models used for SGIL's ICAAP

11. For all the models that are deemed to be critical for SGIL and SGLB as a result of the inventory process

a. Has access to the information escalated to the Reviewing Authority Committee ("technical" committee).

b. Represents SGIL or SGLB in the Approval Authority Committee, by delegation of the CROs; takes questions or concerns raised by local users to the Model Approbation Committee.

c. Participates in the Group's Model Risk Management Committee.

12. For all models that are developed locally (SGIL's ALM models ; as well as the Operational Risk models and Stress Testing models used in the context of the ICAAP process): explain the process and MRM framework to local model owners and developers ; coordinates theirs dialogue with MRM and ALM central teams ; clarifies MRM or ALM's expectation and governance.

  • - Ability to create good relationships with stakeholders across different departments and geographies
  • - Capability to prioritize and organize
  • - Experience in previous roles on Risk management and ideally on Model Risk
  • - Relevant industries: Banking, Prime Brokerage, Capital markets
  • - Developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • - Very good command of written and oral English
  • - Some familiarity with French useful
