Description

We're seeking an exceptional MIS Manager to oversee the operational development of key College systems. Your role involves managing and developing the College's Management Information Systems, ensuring data accuracy, consistent usage, and creating a data-rich environment. The MIS/Quality team is crucial for accurate information supporting decision-making across the organisation.

You'll collaborate with leaders to specify and develop systems, fostering innovation and efficiency in tracking the student journey. Proficiency in developing visual reports using Microsoft SQL Server and BI tools is essential. Additionally, you'll ensure accurate completion of the College Individualised Learner Record (ILR) return.

Educated to degree level in an IT-related discipline (or equivalent experience), you'll bring experience managing teams to develop and maintain software systems and reports for the entire organisation

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a robust vision for MIS aligned with College strategic objectives.
  • Spearhead the development of reporting and online tools to enhance college performance and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and manage all MIS-related work to ensure systems are purpose-fit, deliver a high-quality user experience and are used to full potential.
  • Oversee day-to-day MIS operations, implementing robust processes for quality data management.
  • Review, develop, and maintain reports and systems to meet College management information needs accurately and promptly.
  • Provide leaders, managers, and teams with timely data reports to facilitate effective provision management.
  • Plan, develop, and maintain systems and procedures to enhance operating quality and efficiency for teams.
  • Collaborate with leaders, managers, and teams to review and develop new functions within the MIS.
  • Ensure comprehensive training for all staff in the use of College MIS.
  • Ensure GDPR-compliant permissions for staff using applications.
  • Manage archiving within the MIS, ensuring appropriate data storage.
  • Contribute to the development of college strategic/operational plans and implement processes and procedures.
  • Manage the accurate and timely collation and submission of the Individualized Learner Record (ILR) to the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

Main Duties

  • Ensure security, quality standards, and procedures are maintained College-wide.
  • Set, review, and maintain timescales and priorities.
  • Provide a high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop specifications and project plans for the design, maintenance, and enhancement of management information systems.
  • Organise, coordinate, and track development projects to meet deadlines.
  • Safeguard information integrity and ensure easy, authorised access.
  • Liaise with staff to efficiently manage and implement system changes, minimising workflow disruption and ensuring data integrity.
  • Manage, develop, and support various software applications for learner data management.
  • Implement, review, and improve data processes to enhance administrative efficiencies.
  • Ensure the production and maintenance of clear and accurate systems documentation for user guidance.
  • Liaise with cross-College teams, software suppliers, and IT Services for problem resolution and awareness of developments.
  • Assist the Assistant Principal Quality & MIS in implementing new software technology.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Dashboards and reporting tools for accurate, timely, and effective management information.
  • Develop and maintain reports to a high standard, easily accessible to users.
  • Liaise with managers and stakeholders to identify and address specific reporting requirements in a timely manner.
  • Be an expert in ILR returns, providing technical advice to College business support administrators.
  • Ensure timely completion of all statutory ILR returns and highlight any areas of concern.
  • Generate data for the College Self-Assessment Report.
  • Stay updated on statutory funding and regulations, disseminating knowledge for College compliance.
  • Liaise with other providers within the Further Education and Skills (mainly specialist) sector to review MIS and data requirements and developments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respond to information requests in line with policies and the Data Protection Act.
  • Participate in appropriate staff development activities.
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by the AP Quality & MIS.
  • Work at any College site on a temporary or permanent basis.
  • Take responsibility for PREVENT, safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults.
