This is a unique opportunity to work for one of the most iconic transport networks outside of London, driving operational improvements delivered to Metrolink customers within Greater Manchester.
Your Role
Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is seeking a rail transport professional experienced in driving forward operational improvements, to join the Metrolink team as a Metrolink Operational Improvement Manager. This role will work in partnership with the Metrolink Operator, TfGM Resilience & Business Continuity, and interested stakeholders, to improve operational performance, develop and deliver security initiatives, ensure compliance against National security obligations and manage contract compliance in these areas.
Key Responsibilities
As Metrolink Operational Improvement Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Work with internal stakeholders and the operator representing TfGM Metrolink within DfT Land Transport Security Legislation and Best Practise Guidance.
- Work with the operator and stakeholders to scope, manage and deliver operational projects to improve the Metrolink service provided.
- Ensure contract security compliance is managed and monitored to deliver actions and to measure results.
- Form partnerships with the operator, stakeholders and internal departments contributing to wider Metrolink objectives and deliverables.

We're looking for someone who has:
- Significant experience in either light rail or rail operational environments.
- Operations experience in transport, engineering or operations/customer service delivery.
- Proven experience of delivering outputs against national security standards, regulations and processes.
- Experience of making performance improvement decisions in an operational function resulting in benefits to passenger services or environments.
- Proven ability to communicate and present proposals to a range of stakeholders in a persuasive manner.
- Proven experience of managing multiple supplier contracts to deliver standards of service.
- Proven experience of having developed productive and successful joint working relationships.
- Experience of successfully managing multiple projects to deliver outputs within required timescales.

A permanent role with a salary of £57,770- £65,024 per annum depending on skills and experience.
