The MFP team owns the local MFP & OTB process for the business. The merchandise financial planning manager is responsible for managing planning process by channel of OTB and Global Buy Review of the cluster.
The role translates global strategy into actionable local items related to inventory and targets for stock and sell-in.
The role
In role, you'll lead the planning of promotional activities with the aim of improving sales and margin, keeping right level of inventory across the UK and Ireland cluster.
The successful candidate feels comfortable in being the main point of contact for driving the strategy and execution of OTB plan and coordinate the team to keep up to date Open-to-Buy plans.
The role requires attention to detail, care and passion for product together with adherence to seasonal calendar dates and solution-driven approach through critical thinking and creativity.
This role will report to the cluster merchandising director and will assist leadership in developing, executing, and communicating OTB and merchandising financial plans.
What to expect from the role
Merchandise Financial Strategy
- Own merchandise plans and align global strategies with local financial goals.
- Identify opportunities to maximize sales, improve stock turn, and enhance margins.
- Maintain OTB plans, reviewing monthly with Global and weekly vs. forecasts.
- Lead finance meetings, ensuring strategy visibility.
- Drive system and data improvements in Integrated Planning.
Budget Process
- Align merchandising forecasts with finance on budget targets.
Open-to-Buy Process
- Review and update OTB plans, aligning stock and DP targets with leadership.
- Lead Global Buy Review, ensuring investment matches sales trends.
- Share merchandise data with Global MFP.
Promotional Plan & Pricing
- Lead price changes and integrate into OTB plans.
- Drive promotional planning with GM and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain promo calendar, share insights, and analyze impact.
Financial Performance
- Monitor financials and recommend actions to meet targets.
Inventory Management
- Analyze inventory trends and optimize KPIs.
- Present performance reports with action plans.
Collaboration & Communication
- Align with Global merchandising, finance, and sales on strategy execution.
- Coordinate with inventory and allocation teams on OTB execution.
Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop the team through feedback and training
What we're looking for:
- Significant experience in working within merchandising and/or merchandising planning, demand planning in a multi/omni channel company.
- Experience and passion for the cluster retail market and a deep understanding of the seasonality and the customer.
- Proactivity in planning to achieve targets and objectives which deliver profitable outcomes
- Experience in leading and inspiring team members to achieve shared goals and objectives
- Strong communication skills with business stakeholders
- Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities.
- Delivery focused with excellent attention to detail and strong drive to resolve issues
- Strong team working and collaboration skills
