What you'll be doing
We are seeking a dynamic MEP Project / Contracts Manager to lead the successful delivery of a £20 million MEP project. This position demands a seasoned leader who can drive strategy through execution, inspire multidisciplinary teams, and manage all project phases from initiation to closeout. The role entails managing key financial, contractual, and risk elements while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Who we're looking for
As a MEP Project / Contracts Manager you will have the following accountabilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and inspire a project team, including Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Technical Specialists.
- Foster a high-performing culture through mentoring, training, and performance management.
- Build a supportive, collaborative, and positive work environment.
Project Governance & Reporting
- Monitor and report on project performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Prepare and present internal and external project reports.
- Lead periodic project reviews and updates, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Commercial & Contract Management
- Own the project budget, overseeing cost control, cost recovery, and resource efficiency.
- Ensure robust procurement processes and manage supplier relationships.
- Manage contractual elements, ensuring compliance with agreed terms.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Promote a culture of "Zero Harm" and ensure adherence to all health and safety standards.
- Conduct safety tours, support incident investigations, and implement improvements in HSE practices.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Lead risk reviews and implement strategies to mitigate risks.
- Escalate unresolved issues to higher levels of authority when necessary.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Champion initiatives to enhance project efficiency and team productivity.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure quality expectations are met.
Digital & Data-Driven Leadership
- Advocate the use of digital tools and data to drive decision-making and project success.
- Ensure the team is trained on relevant digital platforms.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Proven leadership with a track record of managing large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of contract forms and commercial management.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to engage at all levels.
- Experience managing budgets and resources to meet project goals.
- Ability to think strategically while managing the day-to-day project details.
- Flexible and agile to adapt to changing project demands.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- BSc/MSc in Management, Construction, or a related field.
- Membership in a professional management body (APM, etc.).
- Proficiency in MS Office 365, with a focus on project management tools.
- APM PFQ/PMQ/PPQ certifications, or equivalent.
- Full UK driving license.
