Mental Health Act Review Manager

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Priory Hospital Middleton St George is a 110 bedded hospital caring for people with mental health difficulties.

We have eight wards, with several different service lines: male and female locked rehabilitation; male, female and mixed open acute; male and female psychiatric intensive care (PICU) and female personality disorder. All of our patients are referred to us by the NHS

Due to the nature of our work, we care for people who are admitted both informally or detained under the Mental Health Act (1983 amended 2007)

We are looking to recruit a number of motivated and conscientious individuals with an interest in Mental Health to join our Associate Hospital Manager team at Priory Hospital Middleton St George. Associate Hospital Managers (AHMs) sit as part of a three-member panel appointed specially to look at whether people should be discharged from detention under the Mental Health Act. AHMs are accountable to the Hospital

In this important role you will participate as a panel member, ensuring that patients' rights are fully explored and upheld. This will require the consideration of reports from the clinicians involved in the patient's care, and the views of the patient if given, before determining whether the criteria for detention are met.

The Hospital recognises and values the rich diversity of both its workforce and the population it serves. As part of our journey and commitment to ensuring we are meeting the needs of the people we serve, it is crucial that our group of AHMs are representative of the community. Therefore, we encourage applicants from all groups across our communities.

AHMs are remunerated on a sessional basis and full training will be provided for the role. Appointment will initially be for one year, and this may be renewed on a three yearly basis pending successful completion of appraisals and review. Successful applicants should be reasonably available to attend review hearings as required by the patients' needs, and attend 4-monthly group administration meetings when planned throughout the year
