Job overview
The Urgent Treatment Centre and Emergency Department is the gateway for all patients who are experiencing an acute or urgent health need.
We are looking for volunteers who are:
- Able to demonstrate and maintain a positive, calm, caring and compassionate attitude. This is a very busy department, must be able be resilient and flexible in approach to the role
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff
- Able to use a computer/touch screen
- Able to work as part of a team
- Able to respect privacy and keep information about patients and staff strictly confidential
- Ability to recognise and respect the multi-cultural needs of our patients with a non- judgmental and accepting attitude
Main duties of the job
• Greet patients as they arrive in the Urgent Treatment Area
• Assist patients to use the new eTriage consoles
• Work alongside the Care Navigators, Coordinators and other staff in the centre to improve patient flow and offer assistance to patients where needed.
• Escalate any concerns to a member of staff
