Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time (30 hours) dynamic, forward thinking Medical Employment Manager who is highly motivated and ready to work in a fast paced team.
Working with, and leading the Medical Employment team, as part of the Trust's Operational HR team, this role is responsible for providing specialist medical employment support to the Trust and we are looking for someone who is experienced in providing specialist advice on Medical and Dental terms and conditions of employment.
Do you have in depth knowledge of NHS Medical and Dental terms and conditions? Have you worked in a unionised environment and developed successful partnership working? Can you demonstrate a strong ability to build trusting and effective relationships with Senior Managers, Staff Side (Trade Union) Colleagues and other key stakeholders to resolve complex employment issues and drive forward change?
Then this could be the opportunity for you! We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate the above and has experience of advising on, overseeing and resolving a wide range of medical employment queries.
Main duties of the job
We need a HR professional who is ambitious, flexible and a creative thinker. This role is key in delivering a medical employment service for our medical colleagues and service managers.
You will provide medical employment advice on any issues regarding terms and conditions, develop local policies working with trade union colleagues, and interpret national terms and conditions for implementation within the Trust.
The role can be based at either our York or Scarborough site and there will be a requirement to work across any of our Trust sites. Please note we are currently working remotely on a regular basis but there will be the requirement to attend face-to-face meetings as required.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Highly specialist knowledge of Medical Staffing to Masters level equivalent acquired through professional HR qualification (CIPD HR Management/ Business Management degree/postgraduate diploma) plus additional training and/or equivalent experience
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of medical terms and conditions of employment and relevant employment legislation
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience as a HR specialist in a complex multi professional organisation, specifically working within a Medical Employment / Medical Staffing Manager role
Skills & Attributes

- Ability to work to deadlines and manage a range of high priority activities simultaneously
- Ability to be assertive and confident in own decision making.

DBS Checks
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking. If you are successful you will be asked to confirm if you wish to pay in one amount or in instalments. The charges are currently £27.38 for a standard check and £55.38 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for.
