Job title: Mechanical Secondary Propulsion Engineer

Salary: Circa £36,000

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working directly for the Technical Team Lead, supporting key tasks and activities in the design and build of a major Submarine Secondary Propulsion plant
  • Resolving a range of engineering issues and problems, compile technical reports and accompanying presentations
  • Supporting technical reviews, reviewing engineering designs and calculations
  • Supporting the qualification, testing and commissioning of major equipment and fluid systems
  • Supporting testing of supplied systems and equipment (i.e. equipment testing at suppliers)

Your skills and experiences:

  • Degree within a STEM subject (preferably Mechanical Engineering)
  • A background or previous experience in major equipment (i.e. Gearboxes / Turbines / Motors / Pumps / etc)
  • Experience in Fluid System Design (i.e. Lubricating Oil / Steam / etc)
  • A passion for learning about Submarine Propulsion
  • A keen interest in the Testing and Commissioning lifecycle phase

The Secondary Propulsion team:

As the Mechanical Secondary Propulsion Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the design and development of major propulsion plant equipment and systems for the Dreadnought Submarine Programme. You will also be working to support the procurement and testing of specialised equipment. This is not an opportunity to be underestimated. You will be part of a project where you will assist in the design and shaping of the next generation, first of class defence submarines. We offer relocation support across all Submarine roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria
