What you'll be doing

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mechanical Package Manager / Estimator to join our work-winning team within our Regional Scottish business.

The successful candidate will lead, manage, and coordinate all aspects of pre-construction MEP PCSA bids, ensuring high-quality, competitive proposals and robust designs are delivered to our customers.

This role requires meticulous attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively, and a commitment to achieving client budgets and maximizing value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bid Strategy: Formulate and agree on bid strategies with senior management to secure profitable orders.
  • Client Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their requirements.
  • Budget Management: Establish, manage, and maintain approved bid budgets.
  • Presentation & Coordination: Oversee the preparation, coordination, and delivery of presentations to customers to successfully secure orders.
  • ong>Bid Management Processes: Implement and oversee bid management processes, including compiling PPC papers, bid management plans, and decision-making on major supply chain partners.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tender requirements, maintain accurate estimating files, and adhere to Bid Governance and Audit requirements.
  • Cost Planning: Produce accurate, competitive, and well-researched tenders/bid proposals, ensuring error-free submissions in a standard format.
  • Risk & Opportunity Analysis: Undertake risk grading of tender opportunities and maintain risk & opportunity registers as required.
  • Client Engagement: Attend key customer meetings and industry events to gather customer intelligence and perform competitor SWOT analysis.
  • Innovation & Technology: Develop technological solutions for bids via BIM and submissions technology, and consider alternative tender submissions.

Who we're looking for

Personal Qualities & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar role with strong understanding of risk & opportunity analysis.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex data and documentation accurately.
  • Proficiency in general IT applications (e.g., Word and Excel) and standard estimating software (e.g., CANDY).
  • Familiarity with Estimation bid software and preparation of budget Cost Planning.
  • Experience managing Mechanical/Electrical Estimates on projects with M&E values up to circa 50M.
  • Previous experience in managing bid services within the construction and engineering industry, with specialist experience in sectors such as Healthcare & Education.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/MICE/MIStructE) is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to form effective relationships under time pressure.
  • A proactive approach to innovation and development, with a focus on customer satisfaction and business optimization.
  • Knowledge of Lean Construction principles, 5D cost planning, and BIM is desirable.
  • Experience with document storage systems such as Sharepoint and Business Collaborator is an advantage.
