About the role
We are delighted to share that we have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join us within our Shieldhall site.
Shieldhall packages a huge volume of Scotch malt whiskies, white spirits and ready to drink brands to supply over 170 countries around the world and is a key manufacturing site within the Scotch supply category.
As a Mechanical Engineer within our Packaging Team at Shieldhall, you will play a critical role in driving efficiency and making a positive impact on our operations by:
- Ensuring optimal performance: Delivering efficient and effective maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and asset improvements to maximise availability across the site.
- Collaborating with team members: Working closely with equipment owners and site teams to develop and implement maintenance plans while identifying and driving site-wide improvements.
- Enhancing asset performance: Designing and implementing maintenance programmes that boost asset reliability and utilisation.
- Minimising downtime: Responding promptly to plant breakdowns, identifying and repairing root causes to restore operations swiftly.
- Sharing best practices: Documenting maintenance outcomes via SAP to ensure lessons learned are communicated across teams.
- Prioritising safety and quality: Maintaining a strong commitment to health and safety compliance while upholding the highest standards of quality in your work.
Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring our operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently, contributing to the continued success of our Shieldhall site.
Health and safety compliance is key and you'll be at the forefront of making sure this is supervised alongside other Key Performance Indicators and targets such as production quality and HMRC compliance.
Shifts
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work 38 hours per week on an early/back shift rotation, with an obligation for occasional night shifts as required. Early shifts run from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, while back shifts operate from 2:00 pm to midnight, Monday to Friday.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who:
- SVQ Level 3 is minimum requirement with a recognised hands-on apprenticeship or equivalent
- Shown hands-on experience within a production environment and able to demonstrate understanding of asset performance and maintenance.
- Experience in data analysis, use of applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and business systems such as SAP
- Can work well within a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where they can solve problems.
- Holds strong interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to communicate with all levels across the site.
- Able to push forward your own ideas about improvements to current approaches and appraise new opportunities. With a strive to make a positive difference to manufacturing excellence and show your excellent communication skills.
