About the role

We are delighted to share that we have an excellent opportunity for a time served Mechanical Engineer to join us within our Shieldhall site.

Shieldhall packages a huge volume of Scotch malt whiskies, white spirits and ready to drink brands to supply over 170 countries around the world and is a key manufacturing site within the Scotch supply category.

As a Mechanical Engineer within our Packaging Team at Shieldhall, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem-solving, and improvement of all mechanical assets to maximize their availability across the site.

  • Collaborating with operations teams, CAPEX, and other maintenance groups to drive operational performance and improvements.

  • Engaging with operations teams and maintenance personnel to deliver and review required and requested maintenance with minimal production impact, ensuring the availability of spare parts for scheduled maintenance tasks.

  • Implementing and developing maintenance programs aimed at supporting and improving asset performance and utilization.

  • Responding promptly to plant breakdowns, identifying and repairing root causes to minimize downtime.

  • Reporting maintenance outcomes via SAP to ensure the sharing of standard processes.

  • Upholding health and safety compliance and maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of work.

Health and safety compliance is key, and you will be at the forefront of making sure this is monitored alongside ensuring both site and personal KPI's are achieved.

About you

Are you a time served mechanical engineer with a passion for delivering high standards? Are you able to react quickly to unexpected problems and make fast paced decisions? If so, then this may be just the role for you!

To be successful in this role, we're looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills, can communicate at all levels, develop key relationships andcanmake effective decisions and drive improvements using specialist knowledge.We would love to talk to someone who has the ability touse initiativeand push forward their own ideas whilst offering guidance and support for our current approaches.

Key skills and experience:

  • Relevant qualifications and have demonstrable knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and environmental risk principles

  • Proven experience in a production/FMCG environment desirable however this is not essential

  • Can work well within a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where they can solve problems

  • Able to push forward your own ideas about improvements to current approaches and appraise new opportunities. With a strive to make a positive difference to manufacturing excellence and show your excellent communication skills

Shifts

As a Weekend Mechanical Engineer, you will work 36hrs per week. Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm with rotating nights from 7 pm to 7 am for a competitive salary + shift allowance.
