About the role

This is a unique opportunity to lead Cityflyer as Managing Director. This role will develop the commercial strategic direction, ensuring the successful delivery of an ambitious operating profit and three-year plan.

Commercially astute to drive and react to market and business changes, and entrepreneurial and visionary in approach, the Managing Director will engage and empower the team to deliver pre-determined shareholder returns, consistent with agreed standards of safety, security, and customer and colleague experience.

Key duties

  • Assures the safety of the airline and regulatory compliance of the Company's business as its Accountable Manager
  • Notifies the CAA of any changes to the organisation thus maintaining the validity of the AOC and all other company regulatory approvals
  • Develop and execute the Company strategy to deliver an airline model capable of achieving strong revenue targets, world class operational performance, exceptional colleague experience, high levels of customer satisfaction and work in collaboration with the CFO to ensure delivery of sustainable profits with a cost efficiency focus
  • Delivers high organisational performance by demonstrating and role modelling effective leadership skills, and championing the people plan
  • Delivers a strong customer strategy to achieve competitive advantage and maximise revenue potential;
  • Seeks and develops growth opportunities for the Company and gains shareholder support through comprehensive business plans and proposals
  • Offers test-bed opportunities to the parent company for new commercial, service or technology concepts
  • Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders within the group to champion the Cityflyer business
  • Leverage group synergies particularly with Euroflyer
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of the external market and reacts in a timely manner to preserve the success of the business
  • Ensures oversight and management of corporate risks
  • Empowers direct reports to deliver in their area of specialism, maintaining oversight and providing guidance and motivation to drive maximum performance
  • Develops industrial relations strategy in consultation with the shareholder
  • Carries out the duties of a Director of the Company's Executive Board.

About you

  • Proven ability to lead, empower and motivate teams through effective leadership
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems, think creatively, work with uncertainty and manage a broad spectrum of stakeholders
  • High resilience and energy
  • Previous experience of acting as a company director and knowledge of responsibilities of the role desirable
  • Proven Commercial Acumen to deliver robust revenue performance and customer experience targets
  • Comprehensive knowledge of company accounts
  • Knowledge of the requirements of an accountable manager
  • Experience of building short and medium Strategic business plans and key performance measures
  • Understands of the process for gaining investment for financing
  • Experience of negotiating significant high costs contracts
  • Industrial relations experience desirable
