The Central Promo Planning team sits at the heart of Currys' ambition to help everyone enjoy amazing technology and make every day better than ever.

The Promo Planning Manager is given full ownership of quarters within the Currys events calendar, including owning and scoping all of our exciting mixed category events, as well as supporting the business by delivering key processes to get us to market. They will work closely with the Senior Promo Planning Manager and other functions such as Marketing Planning, Marketing Channels, Category Squads and Credit & Services to deliver exciting plans into market.

The Promo Planning Manager will work with a wide network of functions within CCO and external areas across the year to ensure planning of events is aligned to business objectives. Before events go live, the Promo Planning Manager will scope and create customer-centric strategies for each event, using customer and commercial insights to create event strategies that inspire customers, but also meet commercial targets.Across the year, they will co-ordinate and align the business to our plans through our QPEP process, and ensure plans are taken to market right first time.

To ensure a smooth launch to the plans, the Promo Planning Manager may also support the Assistant Promo Planning Manager with deals lists, competitor reporting, wider business briefings and comms to keep the business aligned. From supporting the Senior Promo Planning Manager with scoping of the annual events plan, to executional processes such deals lists and reviews of events post-live, the Promo Planning Manager is involved and influences at every stage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing owned event strategies (defined as Paydays, Bank Holidays, Black Friday, Christmas, Clearance/Sale events and any new innovations), creating the brief, setting KPIs and ultimately delivering the events through the business
  • Deliver PIR (post implementation reviews) of our events to ensure we are capturing key learnings for future improvements to events
  • Supporting the Senior Promo Planning Manager with scope of events within annual planning
  • Owner and 'CEO' of quarters within the trade calendar, meaning they own the Promo Planning events (including crafting of briefs) and the end-to-end processes to bring all events within that quarter to market smoothly (including executional processes such as deals lists)
  • Owners of acceleration/course correction actions for the business if trading is not where we want it to be
  • Governing CCO functions to ensure process is being followed, managing the critical path for plan alignment and deliverance of the plan
  • Drive wider business QPEP sessions with enthusiasm and passion to bring the business on the journey across the planning milestones
  • Ensure any marketing comms for owned events are correct, and act as the 'sign off' for various pieces of comms (such as CRM emails, PR releases etc)
  • Review events post-finish to ensure we capture critical learnings for planning going forward
  • Supporting the Senior Promo Planning Manager to deliver potential ad hoc opportunities across the year

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strategic thinker who can turn the business strategy into clear marketing plans and promotions
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with good attention to detail to ensure line level accuracy. Strong process-driven thinking preferable
  • Marketing experience - ideally in the fast-paced retail environment
  • Good level of commercial acumen is ideal
  • Strong level of initiative and critical thinking to proactively find solutions
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales and profits
  • Ability to build relationships and be a team player
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, capable of presenting to team forums as well as working cross functionally to achieve the desired results
  • Marketing/Business degree desirable
