Mid to Senior Product Designer

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

The Company:

Fertifa is Europe's most comprehensive provider of reproductive, hormonal, and sexual health as well as neurodiversity benefits. Our mission is to make reproductive health accessible for all individuals, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, or relationship status.

We have a long-standing legacy of providing reproductive health and neurodiversity clinical advice in the UK and Europe to Enterprise and SMEs alike. Today, our services extend across menopause, women's and men's reproductive health, family forming and neurodiversity, offering clinical and wellbeing support, educational resources, and financial assistance all through our intuitive Fertifa
mobile app.

After raising a seed funding round in May 2023 and more recently acquiring Juniper Reproductive Health, we are now entering an exciting phase of growth. As we scale, we're building a team of mission-driven, high-performing individuals passionate about transforming employer-funded healthcare.

The next step in our journey? We're looking for a Mid to Senior Product Designer to join the team.

About the role:

We are looking for a highly organised team player who is passionate about our mission of making reproductive and neurodiversity care better and more financially accessible to everyone.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead and shape the entire user experience at the heart of our product and engineering efforts. As our sole designer, you will be instrumental in defining and advancing our design culture, creating intuitive, accessible and delightful experiences across our mobile app for patients and our internal web platform.

You will collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to solve complex challenges in a sensitive healthcare space. Your commitment to user centred design will ensure that we build products that are not only usable but also provide genuine comfort and support to our users on their personal health journeys.

This is a highly autonomous and collaborative role, offering a unique opportunity to own the design function and have significant impact on our product and the lives of the people we serve.

Who you are:

  • A few years of experience shipping products to real users, ideally across mobile and web demonstrating a thoughtful design process from start to finish
  • Can see the bigger picture, designing flexible and cohesive systems rather than just isolated features
  • Pragmatic, balancing the need for speed in a startup, with a high bar for quality and craft
  • Believe in learning by doing and use prototypes to quickly test, validate, and iterate on ideas
  • Autonomous, comfortable with ambiguity and can identify and solve problems without direct oversight
  • Driven by our mission and with a genuine empathy for the people and patients we support
  • Working with and collaborating across functional groups with an outcome-oriented mindset, focused on seeing impact and not just shipping features
  • A thoughtful partner to engineering, with a keen sense of what is technically feasible, ensuring design concepts translate into practical and scalable solutions
  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and rationale to stakeholders
  • An interest in healthcare, wellbeing, reproductive health and increase equitable access to care
  • Expertise in modern design and prototyping tools (particularly Figma)

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working in a high-growth start-up or scale-up
  • Previous experience working in healthcare or with sensitive personal data

What you'll do:

  • Lead and deliver the design of our product from initial concept through to flows, wireframing and eventually polished release
  • Champion our users by deeply understanding the distinct needs of our patients, clients, and internal teams
  • Work in close partnership with Product, Engineering, Clinical, Marketing and Client Services teams to make complex design challenges simple and accessible experiences
  • Lead the visual craft of our product, while also shaping a cohesive and compelling brand identity across all company touchpoints
  • Take ownership of our existing design system, driving its evolution and improving the design workflows that help us scale

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • 3 additional wellbeing days
  • £1,000 learning budget post-probation
  • Comprehensive healthcare cash plan
  • Enhanced family-forming and reproductive health benefits
  • Predominantly office-based (SE1) with option for hybrid
  • EMI share option scheme

Fertifa is an inclusive employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds. If you're passionate about making a difference in people's lives and thrive in a mission-driven workplace, we'd love to hear from you. Do let us know if you require any reasonable adjustments for an optimal interviewing process.

Application Process:

First round:
Initial screening call with Talent Team (30 mins) (virtual)

Second round:

  • Competency based interview with Heads of Product and Engineering (40 mins) (in person)
  • Behavioural based interview with Clinical and Client Services Teams (40 mins) (in person)

Final round:
