The Marketing Director is responsible for the development and implementation of the marketing strategy in line with the Plus X Innovation vision. We encourage candidates at both senior Head of or Director level to apply.

The Marketing Director plays a pivotal role in steering Plus X Innovation's marketing and growth efforts towards achieving its strategic business objectives. This role is responsible for communicating and re-enforcing Plus X Innovations distinctive market position, communicating our core proposition and values to new and existing target markets, through building relevant, productive, and trusted relationships across the 'Quadruple Helix'.

This hands-on role includes the daily leadership and management of the marketing team and effectively harnessing a curated group of external suppliers, including agencies and freelancers. Responsible for driving best-in-class brand building, efficient project management, effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration. Ensuring end-to-end development and delivery of the marketing strategy to drive positive impact and business growth.

Through effective team management, lead, inspire, and invigorate all aspects of the marketing mix, building a happy, productive, and high performing team. Generate a plethora of creative and innovative marketing communication ideas that resonate and connect with our target audiences. Activities will include brand building strategic partnerships, sponsorships, promotional activity, advertising, digital ecosystem development and media, PR, awards and events.

There will be an expectation to work at least 50% of your hours in our innovation hubs

Key Responsibilities

Marketing strategy: Working with our Interim CMO, you will develop a hard-working marketing strategy that delivers on the business goals. You will work with the marketing team to educate, mentor and coach them to understand and deliver their specific roles and how they each contribute individually and together as a team to the wider strategy execution. You will ensure all key stakeholders are educated and informed of the marketing strategy and gain buy-in to the plan, ensuring that all stakeholders understand their roles in supporting its effective and successful delivery.

Brand and communication management: as the lead brand ambassador you must ensure all output (both internal and external) is of a high quality, on-brand and reinforces our brand proposition. You will be responsible for ensuring that all relevant stakeholders know what is being communicated to our audiences and when, working with our content manager to ensure the master marketing calendar is always up to date each month, and informed by our core communications framework.

Innovation programme marketing: this role is critical in driving our innovation programme marketing, leading, and empowering our Programme Marketing Manager and the programmes team to deliver a successful calendar of innovation programmes and events. This role works collaboratively with the programme team to ensure on-brand programme development that endorses the brand positioning, retains, and attracts hub members through developing story-telling content that delivers on our brand promises. As a result, Plus X Innovation programme marketing will further attract new relevant and high-quality candidates, ensuring full programmes and ground-breaking story creation via the alumni case studies which can be further leveraged to attract and retain members.

CRM, database & digital: supporting the CRM & Digital Marketing Manager you will set a GDPR compliant strategy that will build and maintain a robust customer database, growing our CRM capabilities to fully engage with customers and prospects via optimised email campaigns and workflows, nurturing a solid pipeline and further developing brand engagement and loyalty. You will oversee the delivery of impactful digital campaigns to drive effective brand awareness and lead generation.

Project and stakeholder management: You will provide guidance and structure, to manage and drive proactive website development and a technical roadmap to optimise our digital ecosystem - always with a keen eye on creating the optimal customer journey. You will sustain creative and dynamic working relationships with our third-party agencies, suppliers, and consultants, ensuring all parties understand and deliver on our brand proposition and ambitions. You will develop and nurture key stakeholder relationships to optimise cross-functional collaboration, gaining maximum support for marketing projects, while keeping track and prioritising all the marketing projects, keeping the leadership team informed with progress.

Market context: maintain a thorough understanding of the marketplace in which we operate and an awareness of competitor activity, to enable us to benchmark, but also stay ahead of the competition.

Customer research: connect and engage with the Plus X Innovation customers and stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of their needs and pain points and how we can present and provide the right solutions - ensuring all marketing activities and communications are timely, relevant, and engaging to both retain and attract new customers. Where possible, develop customer feedback mechanisms and ROI

tracking for all relevant marketing activities to ensure we stay relevant and impactful.

Budget management: setting the annual budget and working with the marketing team and finance department to ensure spend is within budget and all marketing invoices are filed correctly and on time.

Reporting: establish suitable reporting structures for the purpose of 'marketing effectiveness' feedback to ensure all marketing activities drive the right balance of brand and commercial value and remain relevant and cost effective. Harness relevant data and customer insights to inform future marketing strategies and tactics to drive continual improvement.
