Purpose of the Role
Procurement is a key global business function within Diageo, Source being a fundamental part of our end to end supply chain within Diageo. Sustainable delivery of high performance from all suppliers is imperative and requires focussed resource to manage.
The role covers Supply Categories (Scotch, Beer and Baileys) and has specific responsibility for ongoing management of supplier performance, including delivery of goods/services to agreed service levels plus, value delivery and an element of continuous improvement management.
The category specialist must be an effective business partner to key functions. Our ESG agenda with continue to be a key part of our category agenda. The role will include a developing knowledge in this area and delivery of key critical metrics in partnership with our supplier.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
This role requires the individual to be flexible and positively embrace change. Continually seeking ways to improve the overall procurement function and establish new ways of working where appropriate.
- Collaborating with heads of procurement categories and their teams to play a leading role in identification and delivery of key improve projects.
- Managing the performance of key suppliers, across manufacturing sites in UK and Ireland.
- Close interaction across Supply Category teams at both operational and key stakeholder level.
- Building resilience in the supply base and agility to support Diageo's growth ambitions is a key priority
- Driving execution of category strategies.
- Track continuous improvement programmes.
- Lead supplier review process and local supplier management teams.
- Issue resolution on all service & quality performance issues.
- Project management of all projects and change programmes for the category.
- Support implementation of Brand Change Projects.
- Support the development of Category/Supplier VCRM Contingency Plans.
- Stakeholder Engagement across various teams and at various levels of source, plan, make, move and technical.
- Support, Shape and Execute key Improve projects that could drive lean processes in Procurement alongside the Category Head.
- Management of Supplier performance to ensure key targets are achieved.
- Resolution of key issues across the category and implementation of long-term corrective actions.
- Service focused - build agility and resilience in our supply base to service Diageo customers and Diageo growth ambitions.
- Procurement lead for a suite of projects across margin enhancement, sustainability and supply projects for category
Skills and Experience Required
- Relevant Degree or similar qualification.
- Commercial experience and understanding.
- Several years' Procurement experience or equivalent role with transferrable skills.
- Ability to embed sustainable change via improve projects and CI plans.
- Capable project lead that can manage multiple projects and conflicting workloads.
- Ability to deliver and sustain service and quality performance with a range of challenges on capacity, quality and demand volatility.
- Experienced at influencing cross functional teams/projects.
- Skilled communicator with a high level of personal impact enabling the rapid establishment of constructive relationships.
- Ability and confidence to engage at various stakeholder levels internally and externally.
- Ability to solve complex problems that require extensive investigation and analysis.
