Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the Managing Partner is to play a senior leadership role is owning and driving the relationship with two of our largest and most established clients across FMCG and Alcoholic Beverages. You will play a vital role in looking to the horizon and helping your clients to move their business forward and defining the role that media and communications will play in helping to execute this.

You will lead, inspire and motivate our people within the group to deliver best in class service and output for your clients by ensuring the right team fit.

You will develop a deep understanding of how each client's business operates and what their key objectives and challenges are. You will then use this knowledge to improve the partnership and develop dentsu solutions to help your clients achieve their business goals; ultimately driving growth, revenue and profitability for both the client and dentsu.

Key Responsibilities

Becoming a true Business Partner:

  • Owning the client relationships within the group, improving, developing and ensuring excellence in client service and moving us from a service provider to a true business partner.
  • Working with the Client MD to precisely identify a client's service requirements and develop & execute a plan that exceeds a client's expectations, maximises business growth, income & profit for our clients and us.
  • Escalation point for any client issues - pulling together the right people from around dentsu to solve any issues in a timely manner, being an open, honest & trustworthy partner for the clients.

Nurture, progress & retain our talent:

  • Lead and inspire the team in your group - creating a positive team dynamic where great work and behaviours can be exhibited,
  • Ultimately responsible for the career development of your group; but specifically managing and coaching the Client Partners to ensure we are growing and developing talent. Always thinking to the future about succession planning, nurturing top talent and career opportunities for the team across Carat and beyond
  • Work with the Client MD and other Managing Partners to ensure the right team resourcing requirements are planned for and implemented across your group and the agency, flexing your resource according to demand.

Delivering commercial objectives & growth:

  • Developing deep understanding of the clients' business through the Client MD and Client Partners to develop & action strategic Client development growth plans as to how we deepen, grow & sustain our partnerships.
  • Working with the Client MD to ensure we hit our commercial targets, overseeing any new commercial opportunities & delivering dentsu growth within the client group.
  • Accountable for managing client profitability information within the group & looking at how we can improve efficiencies and productivity to maximise this.

Forward looking, best in class output:

  • Driving best in class work from across the group of clients
  • Crucially enabling the team to deliver market leading strategy and planning through our data and tech capabilities.
  • Work with the Client MD to ensure we connect the best expertise across the network to deliver best in class solutions to achieve the client's business goals.

Leading & winning key pitches:

  • Successfully leading key new business activities by playing an active role in pitch management across all deliverables.
  • Management and quality control of pitch output; Successfully mobilise and motivate all dentsu team around pitch challenges ensuring highest standard of work.
  • Work alongside Heads of New Business to develop the overall pitch strategy/timing plan/ team/ etc.

Qualifications + Skills

  • Extensive and proven experience of leading a team of high performing individuals within the media space.
  • Performance mindset across all channels and strong background in both brand building and digital.
  • Experience in designing solutions outside of a pure media scope.
  • Ability to understand and deliver positive value add and impact to a client's business performance.
  • A track record of generating revenue for your agency and market-leading work for your clients through your ability to see situations from a commercial perspective.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships and take people on the journey with you.
  • A trusted client adviser with strong people management experience and skills.
