Person specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Management qualification or equivalent.

Desirable criteria

  • Educated to Master's degree level or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Board Level Experience.
  • Extensive contemporary experience of working at senior Board or equivalent level in NHS organisations including recent and relevant acute sector experience.
  • An established profile as a successful and highly respected leader within the NHS provider sector, wider healthcare sector or a related area of government. Candidates from broader backgrounds with transferable skills and experience will also be given serious consideration.
  • Demonstrable track record of working and influencing at a senior level with the NHS/ Department of Health and Social Care / Treasury and in the broader healthcare system, or potentially a sector of comparable profile and complexity.
  • Highly experienced at relationship building, networking and public speaking, able to credibly represent PFB in a variety of public fora and to the media.

Desirable criteria

  • Extensive experience of dealing with local politicians & media.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Working knowledge of NHS and Social Care Policy.

Desirable criteria

  • Working knowledge of Local authority functions.

Specialist Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Development of NHS systems.

Desirable criteria

  • Detailed knowledge NHS service provision / commissioning and current policy and sector trends of relevance.
  • Excellent strategy development and analytical abilities, able to work effectively with senior leaders.

Aptitudes/Disposition

Desirable criteria

  • Proven system leadership skills.
  • Significant influencing skills.
  • Ability to work and think strategically and capable of demonstrating sound writing skills.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills / able to command respect from a wide range of senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills with significant experience of drafting complex strategy documents, analytical pieces and other documents for public consumption.
