Manager - Valuations and Decision Modelling, Financial Services (Insurance and/or Banking Sectors)
The opportunity
At EY-Parthenon, our unique combination of transformative strategy, transactions, tax and corporate finance delivers real-world value - solutions that work in practice, not just on paper. Benefiting from EY's full spectrum of services, we've reimagined strategic consulting to work in a world of increasing complexity. With deep functional and sector expertise, paired with innovative AI-powered technology and an investor mindset, we partner with CEOs, boards, private equity and governments every step of the way.
Our Financial Services (FS) sector focused Valuations and Decision Modelling (V&DM) team, part of EY-Parthenon, works with FS clients across insurance, banking, capital markets, and wealth and asset management sectors. We advise our clients on a range of complex matters across M&A transactions, strategic corporate finance, financial reporting, tax, and operational purposes.
There is a market opportunity to grow in our insurance and banking sectors, and we are seeking to hire an experienced valuation specialist with insurance or banking sector experience to join us and help drive this growth.
Your key responsibilities
As a Manager within the FS V&DM team, you will oversee and manage the production of high quality valuation analyses and insightful valuation reports for a wide variety of insurance and/or banking clients, from listed multinational corporations, central banks and regulators to fast growth InsureTech / FinTech businesses. Typical projects include the valuations of businesses and private companies, financial instruments including debt instruments, asset portfolios, intangible assets, and derivatives. You would develop a deep understanding of the strategic commercial, technological and regulatory issues faced by our clients.
You would manage small, diverse teams alongside colleagues with a range of professional backgrounds and experiences, each of whom bring unique ideas and perspectives to the team. A typical project would involve working with our offshore teams, and often with cross-service line and cross-border colleagues. You would be expected to communicate confidently with senior colleagues and clients, as well as coach junior Analyst and Executive team members and contribute in their professional development, through both on-the-job training as well as leading formal training sessions. You would also take responsibility for maintaining and developing client relationships over the course of a project and beyond.
In addition to client work, you would be expected to contribute to ongoing business development initiatives within the team and the broader EY-Parthenon, including identifying strategic opportunities to grow our client base, proactively disseminating knowledge on market trends with colleagues, producing thought leadership articles, etc.
Skills and attributes for success
We require highly motivated candidates with strong numerical skills / technical knowledge, project management skills and a demonstrable interest and experience in valuation and financial services, as well as a commercial mindset, who are logical thinkers and have excellent attention to detail. We would welcome candidates with the following attributes:
- Five to eight years of experience in a professional services firm, investment bank, private equity, consultancy, corporate finance group or corporate development role, with at least three years of demonstrable valuation experience.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of core valuation methodologies such as Discounted Cash Flow analysis, Dividend Discount Model, and the use of valuation multiples from comparable companies and transactions.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of corporate finance, and familiarity with illiquid equity and debt / fixed income instruments issued by companies.
- Experience of serving clients in the insurance and banking sectors, with an appreciation of the key issues faced by our clients and a detailed understanding of how these sectors work, including the impacts of regulatory capital requirements.

- Strong quantitative and Excel skills, preferably within a valuation environment.
- Ability to play a key role in projects, including excellent verbal and written communication with clients and key stakeholders, model building and preparing deliverables under demanding timelines.
- Further ability to balance multiple projects, prioritise workload and self-review work, with strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player with experience of coaching and managing more junior team members.
