Summary of Role Purpose:

KPMG's Supply Chain practice helps clients build leading edge supply chain capabilities across the end-to-end operations. Our team combines deep sector insight, expert consulting capabilities and trusted relationships to design and implement supply chain transformation programmes including digital and technology integration.

We are looking for a Manager with a desire to leverage and expand their experience in Supply Chain, and a previous record of delivering outstanding results when leading complex projects. The nature of projects we deliver is highly varied, which means we need our Managers to be comfortable working with ambiguity, and demonstrate an ability to continually adapt and grow their skills and knowledge.

Description of the role:

Our clients place considerable trust in us and our advice, hence it is important to us that the work that we deliver is of the highest quality. As a Manager, you'll balance internal and external responsibilities, including client work, business development support, people and practice development.

  • Lead client engagements that deliver the highest quality outputs, helping us achieve our ambition to be the most trusted advisor in Supply Chain
  • Use leading practice problem solving methodologies to deliver projects within our 3 main capabilities of Transformation, Digital & Sustainability
  • Act as the day-to-day client interface, providing effective, credible, and timely communications with senior clients
  • Manage high quality analysis that combines KPMG expertise and market insight with quantitative and qualitative analytics
  • Using your experience in the relevant sectors, either from consulting or industry, support our sales & new business opportunities, and the development of our propositions
  • Maintain and continue the development of an inclusive team culture, inspiring and empowering team members and supporting their career development

Role dimensions:

Leadership & Management:

KPMG's Operational Transformation team (including Supply Chain) comprises circa 60 team members. You will be responsible for managing projects ranging in length from several weeks to many months and leading diverse teams of up to 6-8 consultants supported by sub-contractors and members of the client's own staff. You will deliver projects to agreed deadlines and budgets, although the focus of this role is employing complex analysis to solve client issues.

Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:

You will be required to regularly interact with Partners, Directors and Senior Managers within KPMG to source insight and expertise and to provide progress updates. You will also manage interactions with senior members of the client's leadership team. Your clients will be from all industry and commercial sectors. The ability to develop strong relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds and at all levels of seniority, including senior leaders, will be crucial. You will effectively communicate points of view and evidence that shapes decision making.

We help our clients not only to resolve their biggest operational problems but to transform their Supply Chain and Procurement functions to drive differentiation in the marketplace, deliver superior customer experience and competitive advantage.

The Person:

We are looking for someone with a background in either consulting or industry, with a specialist focus on Supply Chain, either from an operational or a transformation perspective.

You should have strong experience in one or more of the technical areas below, and some exposure across the others:

  • Supply Chain Transformation: experience of working on transformation projects to identify and unlock value across the supply chain, from the initial scoping and design through to implementation
  • Digital Supply Chain: Implementing leading supply chain technologies, including robotics & automation, AI, analytics and big data
  • Supply Chain Sustainability: work on improving ethical and sustainable footprint across the supply chain, including decarbonisation, human rights & sustainability scorecards
  • Supply Chain Analytics: developing digital supply chain models, using large data sets to improve visibility throughout the supply chain, and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
  • Network Optimisation: carrying out projects to optimise networks from both a cost and service perspective, including understanding of all end-to-end network flows, network design and modelling, warehouse design and optimisation
  • Planning: management experience within the Sales & Operational Planning process
  • Logistics & Manufacturing: experience of working in performance improvement in a logistics or manufacturing environment
