The Opportunity
KPMG's Strategy & Performance Transformation practice is looking for exceptional Manager candidates with Oil & Gas or related energy operations experience in a Deal, Strategy and/or Ops and Transformation environment.
The Strategy & Performance Transformation team is part of KPMG's rapidly expanding Strategy Group, which delivers value for clients by challenging conventional thinking, bringing deep industry and functional insights and executing with investor-grade rigour. We are a diverse team of over 150 practitioners, working collaboratively with and orchestrating KPMG's broad set of capabilities within our Deal Advisory business.

Our Strategy and Performance Transformation team works closely with c-suite and senior executives to grow, transform and transact whilst adding and protecting value for shareholders, employees and society. As the world continues to face unprecedented levels of change through decarbonisation, digitalisation, regulation and post-COVID 'normalisation', we have experienced remarkable market demand for our core services of i) Growth Strategy ii) transactions and iii) transformation. We are now accelerating our mission to create value, by turning ambitions into reality, through executing sustainable, fair and profitable business strategies, at pace.
Our UK team is a critical contributor to the success of KPMG's global energy work, and members of our team are particularly active in supporting energy-focused work in the Middle East.
Responsibilities
To be an effective Manager within our Strategy & Performance Transformation applicants will be expected to:
- You will be taking on Project Management responsibility for the delivery of key project workstreams. This will include delegating tasks to team members, constructing project plans, managing client interactions, tracking budgets, and complying with the company's risk processes.
- You will have direct client engagement and be required to build relationships with key clients across the sector, as well as with other advisors (e.g. technical and boutique).
- You will be required to work collaboratively across other service lines within KPMG to ensure we are delivering maximum value for our clients.
- The projects that you will advise on will be high profile and varied. These could include advising on oil and gas strategy and portfolio assessments, identifying and delivering operational efficiency improvements, bringing best practice thinking and industry examples to the design of new operating models, or supporting energy-focused deals.
- There is no 'typical project'. You will need to apply a structured strategic approach to problem solving, drawing on established strategic, commercial and transformation principles, while having the capacity to think creatively.
- Drive proposals for new opportunities in the Energy sector.
- You will need to be comfortable managing, coaching, and mentoring junior staff on specific projects.
- You will maintain a good technical understanding of the energy sector, including oil & gas, power, and/or decarbonisation
- You will work on projects both in the UK and in international environments such as the Middle East

Your Experience
Successful applicants will demonstrate the following:
Work Experience:
• Have strong deal, commercial and/or strategy experience in the energy sector
Technical skills:
• Have strong knowledge of corporate strategy and investment decision making
• Have practical operational experience in the industries we serve, in areas such as oil and gas, power, maintenance and engineering - with specific experience in oil and gas upstream operations, refineries and petrochemicals extremely desirable
• Bring excellent report writing , Excel and PowerPoint skills
• Be skilled in strategic and financial analysis (inc. modelling)
• Bring an inquisitive mind-set and be comfortable challenging the status quo
• Be comfortable in an external facing role
• Provide compelling and well-thought out solutions to strategic, financial or economic problems of high complexity
• Appreciate the chance to work on a wide range of projects and proposals simultaneously to demanding timetables
• Have experience of managing medium size project teams, with a focus on mentoring and coaching junior staff
• Relish the opportunity for interaction and dialogue with companies, investors, regulators and other stakeholders, and with a host of functions across KPMG
• Be willing to travel internationally for project work
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Other language skills would be a strong bonus
