KPMG's Infrastructure and Government Strategic Advisory Services (SAS) team needs talented individuals who have a passion for utilities, built infrastructure and ideally a background in operating model design. Our team supports clients across government and regulated utilities industries with their most complex challenges.

We get involved in many fascinating projects. We develop strategies and plans for the implementation of government policy and design operating models that underpin the delivery of water, energy and transport systems across the UK. Typically, the advice we provide can be categorised as:

Policy, regulation, and service model design

Business operating model design and implementation

Procurement and commercial strategy

What will you be doing?

  • You will perform a critical role contributing to client workstreams, supporting business development, and helping our team to grow and develop.
  • Support organisational operating model design, re-imagining how our clients deliver and create impact from their processes, technology, service delivery, people, governance and insights/data in the future.
  • Be a strong conceptual thinker with the ability to bring ideas into pragmatic, real world future operating models with strong value propositions and tangible benefits.
  • Generate hypotheses and take ownership in storyboarding in cooperation with the team
  • Lead the design and delivery of small projects and / or large, complex work streams
  • Produce client ready deliverables that exceed expectations and require limited review
  • To work effectively with clients whilst delivering engagements and act as an 'ambassador' for KPMG
  • Contribute to the development of the team and fostering our collaborative and supportive team culture
  • Provide timely feedback and coaching to your team members
  • Work on the development of our propositions and knowledge base
  • Support the identification of on-sell / cross-sell opportunities
  • Build and maintain a strong internal and external network
  • Demonstrate high levels of drive, ambition, and ability to collaborate at high levels of intensity

What will you need to do it?

  • Demonstratable experience in operating model design and implementation, ideally for infrastructure projects and programmes in the transport, water and / or energy sectors
  • A strong understanding of how operating models are influenced by and interact with business strategy and business model
  • Demonstrate deep expertise and an ability to generate insights in the sector with a demonstrated passion for working on critical issues facing UK infrastructure
  • A 'can-do' attitude and a strong sense of ownership to get the job done in a practical and pragmatic fashion
  • Ability to display involvement in business development activity e.g. building relationships with clients during engagements
  • Experience in contributing to thought leadership and knowledge management activities
  • Be comfortable handling ambiguity and changing client demands
  • Strong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumen
  • Excellent English written and oral communication skills

Skills we'd love to see/Amazing Extras:

  • A passion for learning and maintaining knowledge of trends in the latest thinking related to client operational and/or supplier delivery models
  • Professional qualification (or working towards one) such as MCIPS, MRICS
