The team and role
The Statutory Accounting Team plays a critical role in managing a complex Group Statutory audit process, consolidating 70+ legal entities across the EMEA and Middle East regions. These entities include a mix of LLPs, limited companies, and holding companies, each with unique technical and operational challenges.
We are seeking a technically strong, hands-on accounting professional who can combine deep financial expertise with excellent people and relationship management skills. The ideal candidate will have a blend of industry and professional services experience and will report to the Director of Corporate Accounting, working alongside the Finance Team, auditors, advisors, and other business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Group Statutory Audit
- Collaborate closely with auditors and the A&M Finance team to develop a detailed resource, time, and cost plan to deliver a timely and efficient audit.
- Proactively track and manage audit progress, identifying risks to timelines and pivoting plans where necessary to ensure successful, on-time delivery.
- Lead and facilitate effective communication between auditors, the wider Finance team, business stakeholders (e.g., MDs, Legal, HR), and external advisors to drive positive outcomes.
- Identify high-risk areas during audit planning, ensuring they are addressed upfront with the preparation of technical papers and appropriate audit support.
- Oversee the roll-out of the WIP Dashboard among Business Operations and MDs, collating responses, resolving queries, and working closely with the Management Reporting team.
- Review team workpapers to ensure high-quality, consistent, and well-documented submissions to auditors.
- Deliver an accurate and efficient Group consolidation, supported by clear, concise workpapers and a robust audit trail.
- Build and develop a strategic partnership with Group auditors, ensuring strong collaboration and issue resolution.
- Stay current on technical accounting standards, Company Law, and related Statements of Recommended Practice (SORP).
- Take ownership of the Group Dividend Strategy, coordinating with key stakeholders and documenting the annual approach through clear technical papers.
- Work with the Legal team to ensure compliance with Company Law requirements, including Board Resolutions approving Financial Statements.
- Lead the preparation of the Members' Capital Statement and act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for the Tax team, MD Support Team, and Partners.
Other Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Finance, Tax, and other business areas to drive issue resolution and provide support as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of fiscal returns (e.g., Corporation Tax, PSA, Statistical Returns).
- Support ad-hoc projects as the business continues to grow and evolve.
- Manage, mentor, and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Champion a strong control environment, ensuring processes are robust, efficient, and well-documented.
Skills and Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA) with extensive PQE; a mix of industry and professional services experience is highly desirable.
- Previous experience working in a complex, international, multi-entity business environment with exposure to FX transactions.
- Strong technical experience in preparing Group financial statements.
- Excellent people skills - proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across all levels.
- Organised and detail-oriented, with a structured and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to pivot plans effectively to manage risks and ensure delivery against tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a hands-on approach to issue resolution.
- Curious mindset with a continuous improvement mentality and a focus on driving process efficiency through the use of technology.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge combined with commercial acumen.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant tools.
- Previous experience in the professional services industry is an advantage.
- Results-driven with a "can-do" attitude and proven ability to deliver under pressure.
