Role Summary

Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We're looking for a Director for our Sponsor Coverage team.

• Member of the Financial Sponsor Coverage Team in EMEA, providing Business Management support across all activities for the team
• Key responsibilities will include managing data integrity, pipeline accuracy, and KPI reporting for sponsor-related activities.
• Drive operational efficiency by coordinating with product teams to update pipelines and ensure accurate deal tracking.
• Maintain global consistency in data standards and reporting by liaising with international counterparts.
• Provide actionable insights through KPI monitoring and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
• Manage and mentor a junior team member to deliver high-quality data processes and reporting.

Business Area

SMBC is strengthening its sponsor coverage capabilities globally, requiring robust data management to support origination, execution, and client coordination. This role ensures accurate data governance and reporting to enable effective coverage and strategic growth.

• SMBC is one of the largest financial institutions globally.
• The Financial Sponsor Coverage team manages relationships with top-tier sponsors and coordinates across multiple product lines and regions.
• Accurate data management is critical for tracking pipelines, budgets, and KPIs across a wide range of products, including leveraged finance, fund finance, and structured solutions.

Position Description

• Oversee data governance and ensure accuracy of sponsor-related information across systems.
• Manage and update deal pipelines in collaboration with product teams; ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Define, monitor, and report KPIs for the Financial Sponsor Coverage team; provide insights to senior management.
• Coordinate with global counterparts to maintain consistency in data standards and reporting frameworks.
• Manage and develop a junior team member, ensuring delivery of high-quality data processes.
• Support strategic initiatives by providing data-driven insights for business planning and performance optimization.

• Strong understanding of data management principles and experience in financial services, preferably within sponsor coverage or related product teams.
• Proficiency in data tools (Excel, CRM systems, BI tools) and familiarity with pipeline management systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders across regions.
• Proven leadership experience managing junior staff and delivering complex data projects.
