Manager, Project Quality

Role Context:

Worley is currently seeking a qualified Senior Project Quality Manager to join our team on the Wood Smith Mining Project. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of quality assurance and quality control to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry Standards and client requirements.

Responsible for providing assurance that a Project Quality Management System (QMS) has been established, implemented and continually improved to meet Project deliverables. Acts and holds responsibility for all matters quality Assurance within the nominated scopes, locations across the Project.

Identifies opportunities for improvement through assessment, observation, lessons learned and RCA events. Manages the quality functions providing directing all reports on a proactive approach to quality delivery, right first time and fit for purpose objectives.

Will be an ambassador for leading, directing others in a Quality Culture fostering Quality as everyone's responsibility through promoting business Quality Objectives, key performance indicators and improvement proposals that require participation at all levels of the project.

In this role you will interface directly with the customer and be responsible for all matters relating to Quality, including monthly performance reviews, customer complaints, Improvement proposals, Lessons Learned and maintaining strong customer relationships.

You'll be:

• Understanding and align Project and Worley Business Quality objectives: Quality Culture, Management system, Project Excellence, Continuous Improvement, Effective Audit and Assessment, Cost Efficiency and recording.

• Monitoring and managing project quality team to achieve overall project objectives and deliverables on an ongoing basis. Leading a team of quality professionals, providing guidance, coaching and support. Creating and fostering a quality conscious culture with focus on continuous improvement.

• Developing, implementing and maintaining a comprehensive project quality management system, ensuring that all project activities comply with relevant quality Standards, Regulations and Contractual Requirements.

• Through collaboration developing client relationship to understand quality expectations and deliverables to address any concerns or issues promptly, build strong relationships with project key stakeholders to ensure alignment on quality objectives.

• Identifying areas for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance overall project quality and efficiency, collating with project teams to establish and maintaining effective quality control measures. Identifing Opportunities for Improvement and Non-conformance events and advises remediations required with the intent to continuously improve quality outcomes on the project

• Lead/support project assurance process to access compliance with established quality processes and procedures, working closely with regulatory bodies and client representatives to ensure project adherence to applicable Standards.

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, including reports, procedures and records. Providing regular (monthly) updates to project key stakeholders regarding quality KPI's to identify trends ad improvement areas.

You'll have:

Job Specific Knowledge:

• Strong knowledge of the implementation, definition, and management of business management systems, preferably in the Engineering and Construction industry.

• Proactively manage customer Quality requests and prioritise actions accordingly, with strong team management skills with an ability to proactively support and encourage others through the creation of a positive environment.

• Confident in an audit capacity with strong capability to identify improvement opportunities and follow through on action.

• In depth knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001.

• Facilitate, direct, and support the successful delivery of business Quality Objectives & Targets that deliver RFT & Zero-defect outcomes and report monthly to corporate Senior Quality Management.

Industry Specific Experience:

• Extensive experience in a Quality Manager role in the engineering construction industry.

• Previous construction experience within the mining or heavy engineering industries would be an advantage.

• Experience leading large scale EPCm Projects.

• Experience in full lifecycle of auditing.

• Advantageous:

§Six Sigma or equivalent

§Engineering principles

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

• Minimum:

§Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering of quality- related field.

§Qualification in management system auditing (Lead 9001)

HSE Capability:

• Good knowledge of Industry SHE working practices and procedures, and willing to influence safe outcomes in the field

IT Skills:

• Strong foundation in general business IT systems (Outlook, Excel)

People Skills:

• Strong leadership and team management skills

• Team player

• Excellent organization/ leadership and communication and interpersonal skills.

Authority / Freedom to Act / Decision Making (Including Budgetary Responsibility)

Extent of Guidance or Control:

• As per Delegation of Authority

• Provides assurance that Project processes meet or exceeds the specifications and standards

Position Significance Relative to Total Organisation:

• Responsible for quality outcomes within the delegated area of the Project

• Supports the full Project achievement of quality outcomes

Other Relevant Information

• Based on site at Woodsmith Mine but may be required to work across multiple work locations within the project (Lockwood Beck, Wilton, Port etc) including international Project offices

• May be required to visit contractor/supplier premises, including internationally, for related inspection/surveillance activities.
