Job Description

Manager, Product Management

We are looking for an energetic and proactive individual who has a passion for international education. You'll have portfolio responsibility of our International Primary, Lower Secondary, International GCSE and International A level qualifications through their lifecycle from inception, throughout their development and into the day-to-day provision of support for our qualifications. You'll work with a wide range of stakeholders both internally at Pearson and with teachers, students, and experts within the wider international education community to set the overall strategy, ensuring our approach aligns with overall business priorities. This role aligns with industry level titles such as Senior Product Manager.

Key responsibilities in this role:

  • Supporting and owning the overall strategic aims for growth of our international academic qualifications alongside the Head of International Qualifications.
  • Leading qualification strategy development and execution, with support and in partnership with the broader international school qualifications team.
  • Scoping, designing and collaboratively developing qualifications that inspire teachers, engage learners, and enable progression to the next stage of their learning journey
  • Lead technical development ensuring delivery time, cost and quality standards are met.
  • Create compelling propositions which are aligned to business priorities to inform market-winning product development across the portfolio of subjects.
  • Providing a first-class customer experience in the teaching, learning and assessment of International qualifications through close and continuous liaison with a range of subject stakeholders across assessment, customer service, sales and marketing teams.
  • Lead and line manage one or more Product Managers, to achieve the overall GQ strategy and subject strategy; includes setting priorities and specific projects.

Key accountabilities

  • You will lead the end-to-end strategic development and amendments of International academic qualifications aligned to our roadmap, including scoping, drafting, reviewing, and internal sign off for new developments, supporting our product lifecycle.
  • You will build and maintain evidence of teacher, learner and stakeholder needs through research and engagement, shaping design decisions and guiding lifecycle priorities.
  • You will track, analyse and respond to competitor activity working with Subject Partners.
  • You'll lead research to understand customer needs and competitor context, using insights to strengthen Pearson's market position and deliver our roadmap.
  • You will define and manage budgets for your qualification portfolio and contribute to the forecasting process as part of our annual planning cycle.
  • You will plan, commission and/or deliver customer-facing events and meetings to support qualification launch and ongoing delivery in collaboration with the Professional Development Manager and International Subject Partners.

Our Successful Candidate

  • Experience working within the education sector, ideally within international school teaching. Teaching experience is strongly preferred.
  • An understanding of education assessment, practice and policy in the UK or Internationally
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to lead, influence and empower others working within a complex matrix
  • Strong project management capability, including effective prioritisation, time and budget management and demonstrable track record of delivering high quality products to time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Experienced in the design and development of academic qualifications, products, or curricula.
  • Experience of presenting to teachers, academics and other stakeholder groups
  • Skilled in research, collaboration and stakeholder engagement, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Able to travel occasionally to conduct research/visit international schools

Role location: This is a hybrid role and will require the successful candidate to work from either the Oxford, London or Manchester offices on a regular basis (1-2 days per week). The role may also require some international travel.
