Manager - Projects Finance, Power & Utilities - 104936

Base Location: London

The KPMG Power & Utilities function is a cornerstone of our Deal Advisory business. Operating from London we do work that matters, serving the Country with diligence and expertise.

The Projects business is focussed on designing new markets and advising on in-house and competitive delivery models for major infrastructure projects and programmes. We advise companies, developers, bidders and regulators on all aspects of delivering major infrastructure assets and competitive procurements. Some of the projects we have advised on include Hinkley Point C, Thames Tideway, multiple Direct Procurement for Customers (DPC) projects, OFTOs, Special Infrastructure Projects Regime (SIPR), Cap and Floor Interconnectors, Competitively Appointed Transmission Owners (CATOs) and new nuclear projects (NNPs). Our clients are typically based in the UK and across Europe.

The role involves bringing together different advisory services to identify opportunities, developing and maintaining strong relationships with key players in the sector while working closely with other parts of KPMG Deal Advisory, to originate and structure our combined utilities infrastructure offering.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing the delivery of specific engagements on a day-to-day basis;
  • Management of internal project teams and external advisors;
  • Producing, reviewing and overseeing development of high quality client outputs
  • Maintaining a good technical understanding of the key sectors in P&U and develop sector specific market intelligence;
  • Coaching and mentoring of junior team members;

What will you need to do it?

  • Understanding of key value drivers in infrastructure projects including policy, regulatory and market framework, financing, delivery, operations etc.
  • Experience of advising on projects in utilities and other infrastructure sectors with strong skills in client relationship management
  • Work at fast pace and during intense periods of engagements, bring experience and best practice and collaborate closely with other parts of the team
  • Understanding of the regulatory arrangements in the UK water and energy networks sectors or nuclear sector.
  • Understanding of typical financial structures in the sector, in particular project finance.
  • Have strong report and business case writing, Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Being an independent thinker with the ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Experience in financial modelling and financial analysis. A good understanding of scenario modelling.

Our Locations:

We are open to talk to Project Finance talent across the country but our core hub for this role is London.

This position will be hybrid.
