EY is seeking an experienced and ambitious Manager to join our Finance Business Consulting team.

You will be part of a growing and a diverse team that combines business implementation, systems integration and financial modelling capabilities working across the Financial Services market. This position demands a highly adaptable and flexible individual capable of navigating a diverse range of client issues, as the nature of the program's work is varied. The ideal candidate should be at ease assuming various delivery roles and tackling the associated challenges inherent to this role.

The opportunity

The Finance Business Consulting team is looking for a Manager level consultant with a strong delivery track record in Finance Transformation who can leverage business and technology based solutions to deliver outcomes for our clients.

We are looking for an experienced individual who is a proven manager, highly motivated, professional, and passionate about what they do and who will further add to the continued success of our team.

Prior consulting experience is a preferred requirement or delivering on Finance Transformation programmes in the Financial Services Industry. An understanding of Financial Services Organisation's Target Operating Model, Process & Controls, Organisation Design, Change Management and Business Readiness is needed with a preference for Banking & Capital Markets.

Your key responsibilities

As a Manager you will be working alongside EY's senior leadership team in delivering a variety of Finance Transformation work across an organisations Business Architecture.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Playing a key role in the delivery of Finance Transformation Programmes including requirements gathering, Process mapping, Controls documentation, writing Process Narratives / Operating Procedures, Working Day Timetable documentation, Reporting requirement documentation
  • Develop Change Management, Impact Assessment and Business Readiness/Training materials documentation
  • Preparation of material for design workshops, understanding the client's requirements and translating these into application business design
  • Assisting senior management in design workshops and understand the client's business requirements and translate to leading practice processes and business design
  • Delivering key elements of engagement mobilisation through scoping, planning and defining outcomes
  • Co-ordinating activities between small teams on projects to deliver tasks, including providing guidance and feedback to junior team members.
  • Training, coaching, and supervising junior staff as well as monitoring staff availability, chargeability and supporting the development of less utilised staff

Skills and attributes for success

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of Finance Transformation, including aspects like Business Design, Organization Design, Process & Controls, and strategies for Change Management & Business Readiness, with experience in delivering related projects. They must have excellent communication skills, a high level of commitment, the ability to handle pressure, and demonstrate leadership and problem-solving abilities in complex financial environments. Additionally, familiarity with Finance Technology applications, a commitment to quality delivery, and proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio are essential, along with the capability to manage senior stakeholder relationships effectively.

To qualify for the role you must have some or all of the following:

  • Prior consulting experience
  • Delivery expertise on large scale Finance Transformations within Financial Services preferably Banking & Capital Markets
  • Prior management experience including the mentoring and coaching of more junior team members
  • Experience in supporting Business Architecture or "business focussed" aspects of a clients Target Operating Model - Organisation Design, Process & Controls, Reporting, Working Day Timetable, Change Management, Training and Business Readiness
  • An understanding of how Finance Technology is used to solve our client's business problems, work with our technology partners to support the design and implementation of various technology solutions (low code through to ERP/EPM capability) as a key member of the business design team
  • Prior Finance Transformation experience should include supporting/delivering some of the below;
    • As Is assessment of a client's operating model
    • Identification of pain points and requirements to underpin a Finance Transformation
    • Target Process Taxonomy and Process design (Level 1 - Level 4 Processes design)
    • Leading Practice Controls Framework and Finance Controls
    • Understand the Working Day Timetable and be able to redesign / improve timelines
    • Understanding of reporting requirements
    • Understanding of processes around Finance - Risk, Front Office, IT etc.
    • Standard Operating Procedures
    • Be able to support a Business Design which will deliver to the clients vision - increased automation & standardisation, reduced manual processes, reduced cost, leading practice processes and organisation design
