OVERVIEW
As a Manager within the UK Banking Advisory practice, you will take end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of complex client engagements across private banking and wealth management.
You will operate independently, acting as a trusted client lead, while also playing a critical role in growing client accounts, shaping propositions and developing our people.
This role is suited to experienced consultants who are comfortable owning outcomes, managing teams, and balancing delivery excellence with commercial and people leadership responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Delivery & Engagement Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of client engagements, from scoping and planning through to execution and closure.
- Act as the primary day-to-day client contact, building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Shape and deliver operating model, process and transformation initiatives across private banking and wealth management.
- Lead and facilitate senior client workshops, steering discussions, resolving issues and driving decisions.
- Ensure delivery is high-quality, on time and on budget, managing risks, dependencies and outcomes.
Account & Commercial Contribution
- Support account management activities, including opportunity identification, proposal development and client expansion.
- Contribute to shaping client roadmaps and longer-term transformation agendas.
- Play an active role in practice growth, including proposition development and thought leadership.
- Partner with senior leadership to strengthen Synpulse's presence and reputation in the UK market.
Team Leadership & People Development
- Manage and structure the work of Consultants and Senior Consultants, setting clear direction and expectations.
- Act as a Career Advisor, providing coaching, mentoring and performance feedback to support career development.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on learning and continuous improvement.
- Support capability building through knowledge sharing, training and internal initiatives.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience
- Proven experience in management consulting or within a financial services organisation delivering complex change.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MSc, MA) or professional qualifications are a bonus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Change Management) are advantageous but not essential.
- Hands-on experience in private banking and/or wealth management.
- Proven track record of managing projects or programmes end-to-end, including client leadership and team management.
- Experience designing and implementing target operating models (TOMs) and large-scale process transformations.
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple workstreams, stakeholders and delivery teams.
Domain & Technical Expertise
- Deep understanding of private banking and wealth management business models, client journeys and operating structures.
- Experience working with core banking platforms (Avaloq), wealth platforms, CRM, onboarding/KYC or portfolio management systems.
- Exposure to digital transformation, automation, efficiency initiatives and AI (e.g. RPA, workflow optimisation, process mining).
- Strong awareness of UK regulatory and compliance considerations impacting private banks and wealth managers.
Leadership & Ways of Working
- Comfortable operating independently with accountability for outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including at senior management level.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to link delivery work to client value and account growth.
- A natural coach and mentor, committed to developing junior colleagues through the Career Advisor role.
- Structured, resilient and adaptable in complex, fast-moving environments.
This role is based in Central London; applicants must be willing to work in person in London on at least a hybrid basis. Applicants must be fluent in English.
