Male Reader Volunteer

Location: Sittingbourne (Kent)

Time Commitment: Minimum of once per week

We are looking for a volunteer who can read with a person we support on a weekly basis at our service in Sittingbourne. We'd like someone with a passion for helping people, a love of reading and getting others engaged in reading as well.

We'd like someone who can bring the stories alive, be energetic and charismatic!

Skills required

  • To enjoy reading
  • To be kind, empathetic and friendly
  • To have a good sense of humour, love to chat and be a good listener
  • To be punctual, reliable and patient
  • To be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures

To ensure the safety of the people we support, we will require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.
