The West London NHS Trust is recruiting a Programme Manager to join its Major Capital Projects Team.

The Major Capital Projects Team is responsible for the overall programme delivery of the Trust's Major Capital Projects. The Team comprises of dedicated industry and NHS professionals who are responsible for all aspects of project management from business case planning through to completion of works and managing all aspects of stakeholder engagement, governance, design, procurement, cost management, contracts and the construction, refurbishment or fit-out stages of works.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Programme Manager with proven expertise of Programme Manager delivering multiple, complex projects.

This is a vital role which is fundamental in the successful delivery of modern healthcare facilities which will help to promote effective care for patients.

Main duties of the job

The Programme Manager will work closely with a team of project managers to successfully develop and manage the Major Capital Projects for West London NHS Trust. This includes being a key advisor to the Head of Major Capital Projects and the Director of Capital and senior staff in the Capital Projects team on projects of strategic and operational significance.

The post-holder will be required to provide Programme Management advice to deliver the capital programme to include a number of complex, high value schemes including Clayponds Hospital, Paddock Centre at Broadmoor Hospital and Hammersmith & Fulham Mental Health Unit.

Essential criteria

  • Chartered Construction professional RICS, RIBA, C Eng, APM, ARB or similar
  • Degree/Diploma in line with key competencies in construction and contract management
  • Masters or equivalent experience

Desirable criteria

  • Diploma/Qualification in Project Management

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience of a variety of project planning and programming techniques
  • Proven expertise to lead, plan, manage, interact with colleagues and deliver projects successfully in a spirit of cooperation
  • Considerable post qualification experience at management level
  • Proven experience on major capital projects

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria

  • Ability to seek and share information and ideas in a confident and compelling manner, using a range of techniques to achieve an effective outcome.
  • Clear aptitude to engage with internal and external stakeholders and service providers and business partners to proactively manage the utility and value of the estate
  • Comprehensive ability to use 'Microsoft Project' project management Excel software
  • High level of written communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyse income and expenditure financial information rapidly and apply sound commercial acumen and sound technical knowledge to maximise value of healthcare estate
  • Understanding of concept and Principles of Prince 2, and practical application
  • Ability to act autonomously in predicting and responding to property management problems to ensure mitigation of risk
  • Clear understanding of the role of a Project Management Office
