Mainframe Storage Engineer
Lloyds Banking Group
Location: Halifax or London
Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the office and the rest from home
Working Hours - Please note that this role will require you to be on call outside of normal working hours and there will be an additional on call salary.
Salary & Benefits: £62,874 to £81,859 per annum (experience dependent), plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, flexible benefits package, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays. Plus on-call bonus.

Where does the role sit in Lloyds?
We’re the Mainframe Storage Team within IBM Mainframe Services.
We look after the Mainframe Storage (software and hardware) for the whole of Lloyds Banking Group.
Our mission is to make this data within our Mainframe systems available for the right purpose with the appropriate confidentiality and always ensuring a phenomenal engineering experience, performances, resilience, and integrity.
IBM Mainframe Services are the team that looks after the critical infrastructure that underpins Lloyds Banking Group’s (LBG) strategic transactional processing systems, namely the IBM Mainframe. The IBM Mainframe is Lloyds Banking Group’s (LBG) platform of choice for our high-end transactional processing requirements for business units.
The IBM Mainframe Services team is made up of over 100 highly skilled and specialised colleagues. The systems we support, underpin almost everything we do as Lloyds Banking Group. We maintain these systems with the highest standard, with an ambition to take ownership of the operational support 24/7 using site reliability engineering (SRE) principles.
What will I focus on?
As a Mainframe Storage Engineer on the zSeries Mainframe you'll be a technical authority in the area. This is a hands-on role where you’ll configure and maintain products and services according to Group standards and policies, plus assist with the delivery of projects within z/Storage environments - this includes out of hours support. You’ll also be involved in project-based work, be part of a large scale transformation and help you to become a hybrid engineer if desired.
Specific tasks might include:
• Support and implement changes to the Z Storage estate within LBG as required.
• Resolution of incidents and problems across the LBG estate in line with LBG KPI’s.
• Assist the z/Storage team in war room/conference calls with incident management and technical teams in order to restore service.
• Provide 24x7 support and provide support for projects and team workload as required.
• Work effectively with the wider z/Storage tower in order to run the smooth transition of projects into live service.
• Provide consultancy skills to Application teams as required.
What we're looking for.....
• Experience in a similar role providing Mainframe Storage Support.
• Expertise in Z Mainframe Storage Software): i.e DFSMS DFHSM DFRMM and related utilities.
• Expertise in Job Control Language (JCL)
• Knowledge of IBM Storage Hardware - i.e DS8000 Disk, VTS, ATL, SAN
• Experience handling incidents & problem solving, plus handling change requests.
• Experience with managing ICF Catalogs
We would also love to see (bu t not essential ) of storage performance & capacity management & experience of Dell Storage Hardware .
