Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for Therapeutic Radiographers to join the treatment team as band 6 Senior Therapy Radiographer within the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust's Radiotherapy Department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individual who will fit in quickly with the treatment team.

You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge across treatment and pre-treatment pathways and you will be expected to participate in the emergency on-call rota.

We actively support professional development and encourage radiographer led research and QI projects. We support leadership development with excellent leadership development programmes delivered by the Trust. We support flexible working arrangements, and all applicants would be expected to support the working hours of the service and work across sites.

Operating from our Charing Cross & Hammersmith sites, our equipment portfolio includes five TrueBeam Linacs (one based at Hammersmith Hospital includes Align RT SGRT system), Siemens Open.go pro CT scanner and Xstrahl unit; our Elekta Flexitron Brachytherapy unit is based at Hammersmith Hospital in a dedicated brachytherapy suite. Complex treatment options we offer include SRS, SABR, TBI & TLNI.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high quality, effective individualised treatment and care to all patients
  • To carry out all practical aspects involved in preparation of radiotherapy treatments
  • To deputise for Macmillan Team Leader on the treatment unit as required

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable post HCPC registration experience.
  • Experience of electronic patient management systems, and treatment and image verification systems
  • Sound knowledge of variety of complex treatment techniques
  • Experience in radiotherapy imaging techniques

Desirable criteria

  • Previous acting-up experience

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • DCR(T) or BSc in Therapeutic Radiography (or equivalent)
  • Registered with HCPC as a Therapeutic Radiographer

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of standard and non-standard complex and conformal techniques
  • Understanding of IR(ME)R and its application
  • Experience in communicating with distressed or anxious patients/relatives
  • Able to act as mentor, supervisor and assessor for student radiographers
  • Knowledge of current professional issues
  • Understands the risks associated with radiation and the optimisation of patients treatments
