M&A Director (Regions)

The ideal candidate must have gained hands-on deal experience preferably in a corporate environment (strong advisory candidates will however be considered) and should demonstrate i) a track record of lead development (e.g., cold calls, buyer credentials); ii) an understanding of the M&A process (from initiation to integration); iii) strong analytical, project management and interpersonal skills; and iv) experience of writing and communicating financial data quantitatively and qualitatively to Senior Executives and the Board.

The role is part of the Group M&A function and will be home based with some travel to Group offices.

Role Purpose:

There are 2 parts to the role:

1. M&A Finance Director - responsible for i) the accuracy of pipeline data; forecasts; analysis & reporting of post deal performance; and ad-hoc interpretation of data. Managing the M&A Finance Analyst who supports these activities; and i) the routine management and control of the M&A cost centre ensuring adequate accruals are in place and providing input to the annual AOP process; and

2. Working closely with the Group M&A Director to further our strategic business development programme through merger, acquisition, joint venture and divestment activities using our transaction processes, from identifying opportunities and prospecting, up to appraising and valuing acquisition opportunities, building internal consensus and getting formal approvals, negotiating and deal structuring, organising DD and sign-off process, through to completion and post-completion follow-up. This will require working with and through Divisional MD's and business unit managers; interacting with internal specialists (Finance, Legal, Tax) and co-ordinating external consultants. You will follow and ensure M&A governance and compliance processes for each such deal.

Requirements
• Experience in gathering a wide array of, challenging and interpreting financial data. Ability to present financial data and write financial reports up to Board level
• A minimum of 5 years hands-on M&A and Finance experience, preferably including prior experience in a corporate environment, alternatively a background in a client facing role in a large accountancy firm or investment banking;
• Fluency in English and preferably an additional European language(s);
• Experience of communicating with CxO level individuals;
• Solid business modelling skills;
• Ability to deliver results often working in and managing cross functional cross cultural teams;
• Demonstrated leadership, negotiation and influencing skills;
• Proven ability to think strategically about acquisition objectives, map the strategy into due diligence evaluations, have led or played a senior role in a DD team and prepared project plans for post deal integration;
• Capacity to rapidly identify issues pertaining to acquisitions, communicate those issues immediately and find resolution;
• Exceptional attention to detail and project management skills;
• An open, direct, and respectful communication style with excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Relevant business or finance degree from a leading academic institution and/or professional qualification (e.g. ACA, CFA etc.);
• Available for international travel.
