The Team

Location Based Entertainment is a global team creating live experiences to inspire wonder in the next generation. Our goal is to enable unforgettable memories and strengthen consumer engagement with our brands. The LBE team manage the licensing process including; pitching, partner investment, project development and relationship management for Family Entertainment Centers, Traveling Exhibitions, Live Entertainment, Hospitality, Theme Parks and Experiential Retail. Our department is revenue generating, monetizing Mattel's IP within the Location Based Entertainment industry.

Job Description

The Opportunity

Joining the Location Based Entertainment team, as part of Franchise Management, in a Senior Associate role for the EMEA region. Based in the UK office in Slough (hybrid) as part of a team of three, reporting into Manager, Location Based Entertainment, EMEA. This role will require some travel predominately in the UK.

Working with Mattel brands and supporting the management of the Location Based Entertainment business in EMEA. The Senior Associate, Location Based Entertainment, EMEA is responsible for the account management of licensed partners, development of existing and new projects and collaborating with multiple internal departments on the launch and marketing of all attractions within their portfolio.

The role is responsible for the day-to-day account management and execution of the Day Out With Thomas program, alongside all character appearance partners and Fireman Sam Live shows as well as occasionally supporting the team across other Live Events business segments. The role is also responsible for the reporting on these project, alongside a certain amount of team admin. LBE has proven to be a key factor in increasing consumer engagement with our brands. This position creates an opportunity for Mattel to work across the franchise of some of the world's biggest brands.

What Your Impact Will Be:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of priority Mattel Brands (style guides, content, priorities ect) and the LBE strategy.
  • Taking ownership of the account management and development of certain Live Entertainment licensees and attractions in UK and Core Europe.
  • Day-to-day management of Day Out With Thomas events in UK.
  • Day-to-day management of Fireman Sam Live theatrical tours in UK and Core Europe.
  • Evaluate operational performance to identify and manage potential improvements/upgrades along with venue/location/tour routes.
  • Contract management for EMEA including processing new deal/amendment entries in Rights Logic, supporting partner negotiations and maintaining relationship with LRM team.
  • Work with existing partners to create additional revenue generating opportunities including third party spend.
  • Create memorable consumer experiences that tie into overall brand strategies, and increase our consumer's engagement with our brands, whilst also generating revenue and merchandise opportunities.
  • Researching Live Events and Location Based Entertainment projects to keep up to date with the market/industry and research for new business development opportunities within EMEA.
  • Supporting the manager with day-to-day admin, budget management and tracking success of projects;
    • Utilising tracking tools on ticket sales and trends to compare with marketing spend.
    • To ensure paid media spend achieves objective and ROAS is tracked and analysed.
  • Supporting Franchise Marketing activities and securing cross promotional opportunities for Location Based Entertainment in the EMEA region.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience in Licensing, Entertainment, Marketing and/or Events.
  • Knowledge of event operations.
  • Stakeholder management experience, comfortable speaking to external parties, including cold-calls.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects, see projects through completion and deliver on deadline.
  • An understanding of marketing campaigns and bringing new projects to market.
  • Tactful. This position requires one to filter through, potentially conflicting, notes and edits and relay them, with tact, back to our partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential for use in project management, deck creation and some financial tracking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication is essential.
  • Knowledge of the licensed attractions business and key players in the space would be highly advantageous.
  • A Degree (or equivalent) in a related subject would be highly advantageous.
  • Can-do attitude and is not afraid to do the "ground" work.
  • This position requires extreme organization, integrity and drive.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a pressurized environment.
  • Fast learner and willing to learn.
  • Can work independently and with a team.
  • Forward thinker; creative problem-solving is very important.
  • Looking for a candidate with high standards and strong work ethic.
